About Nelly
Nelly is a happy lively girl who loves to play. She enjoys havings lots of toys and likes to engage you in her play. She likes to play fetch and enjoys entertaining you with her silliness. Toys are her treasure. Nelly loves to collect them to take to her bed. She will even cheekily steal… sorry borrow... various household items such as the toilet paper, towels, underwear and anything else that would be great to add to her collection. Nelly also takes great delight in being sprung mid- heist. She thinks it's the best game. It will make for a tidy house as you will need to put quite a few things out of reach.
Nelly has learnt how to live in a human home very quickly. She has adjusted well and knows what she is allowed to do and not….mostly.
On her walks Nelly is much more interested to meet the people rather than other dogs. She may be a little reserved meeting strangers but will soon warm to a new human. She is very cute with her blood brindle coat. Such soft fur and a sizable fluffy behind. He foster carer thinks it like touching a cloud.
After all her games and lovely long walks, Nelly will enjoy some couch time with you. She loves to smooch up and snuggle into a cuddle and watch a movie with you.
Nelly would be fine as an only dog provided her humans are home more often than not.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
