About Darling
Darling’s name didn’t come about by accident. She truly is a darling. Darling is super affectionate and loves to engage with her trusted humans. Her ears are always ready to pop up to show her interest.
Darling can be a little reserved meeting a stranger for the first time but she very quickly becomes your new best friend. She loves her cuddles and pats. She adores family time and wants to join with you in everything you are doing even if its just putting the washing on the line. Darling loves her toys, especially when she can collect them and proudly display them on her bed.
Darling has adopted to life in a human home very well. She understands what the house rules are and will be easy to train in her new home as she is quite food motivated. Treats will help her train. Yum yum. Raw carrots are a favourite. Darling is very happy living with a male greyhound in her foster home. She may need some training and patience being left home alone if she is an only dog.
On her walks, Darling will swagger her way enthusiastically and is happy to sniff and investigate anything interesting. She is still a little unsure when meeting dogs that don’t look like her but is improving with patience and encouragement. Currently a couple of 20 minutes walks a day is sufficient. Darling is not a fan of very busy areas for her walks, preferring quieter streets.
Darling is a sweet affectionate girl. She grows in confidence every day and will be a truly loved and vital part of any home lucky enough to adopt her.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
