Mel B aka ‘Melby’ is one of the last 2 of NQAR’s Spice Girl Puppies. She is super affectionate and has a delightful curly tail!
Melby is house and crate trained and she sits for food. She walks well on a lead and loves the creek! Her favourite thing is to find a high spot to jump in water and she’ll swim for hours if you let her. Later, she will settle at your feet and fall asleep next to the couch.
She’s very food oriented and therefore very easy to train. She takes treats very gently from your fingers, but don’t leave food unattended at the edge of the kitchen bench, because she will find it! She otherwise has great manners and does not jump on beds or on people but is very happy to be cuddled. She still has her puppy energy, but is past the chewing stage. She loves toys and playing with other dogs, but also can spend hours lying about on the floor.
She does seem to prefer company, so might be more suitable in a home where there is another dog or people around most of the time. She’s also cat and bird friendly.
Melby has climbed a 1.5 m wire fence with footholds. 1.5 m pool style and solid fencing will keep her in though.
Melby has proven she is also a good little guard dog - she barks at the front and the back fence when she is worried. Her foster family’s neighbour thinks that her barking disturbed an attempted break-in to their home. Although she wouldn't hurt a fly, her barking may deter would be intruders.
Melby will make a wonderful addition to her forever family.
Mel B is $350 to adopt desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea, tick and worm preventatives.
