About Franklin
Franklin is a joyful boy. This strikingly handsome black boy has cute white feet and a white tuxedo chest. He is very affectionate in the home, keen to nuzzle in for a cuddle and get some pats and scratches. He is devoted to his humans and likes to stay close.
Franklin is in a foster home with his brother. They play very well together and have no issue sharing tight spaces, eating side by side and sharing toys. He is also very respectful of his foster Aunty, a frail 10 year old greyhound. He is very much the considerate family man.
In the home Franklin has adapted well. He sleeps well through the night and understands if its the weekend that means a sleep in. He will appreciate being let out for a pee early in the morning and heading back to bed to share the sleep-in.
If at home during the day, Franklin will need access to the yard to pee every few hours.
Franklin is a relatively easy walk but still gets a bit excited meeting new dogs. He enjoys saying hello to neighbours.
Franklin loves car trips and easily jumps into the back seat or rear of your larger car. He travels well, enjoying a bit of rubber-necking - head out the window taking in the sights.
Franklin would be suitable for a family with humans who are home more often than not. He would be great for a home with another suitable dog. He will need access to a yard to pee. Franklin is also a larger excitable boy so not suitable for a family with small children or elderly folk to knock over
Franklin is an easy boy full of love and affection for his family.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
