This gorgeous boy is Lassiter and he is an intelligent, fun loving, cheeky character.
Lassiter plays exceedingly well with his 4 foster siblings. His favourite game is tug-a-war which he will play for hours with his staffie bestie. Inevitably, the toy, be it a rope ball or a silicon toy, will usually get pulled apart and destroyed, but not because of any animosity just simple determination not to let go.
If Lassiter sees his mate doing nothing, he will nudge him in the ribs with a ball or toy until
he gets him to play.
It is amazing how Lassiter has the kelpie instinct to herd. He has 3 foster brothers and a
sister, 3 are cavalier crosses and one a staffy, and he can have them all bailed up, shoulder to shoulder, without touching them or barking. Just using body language and ‘The Stare’. He
has them completely under control. He is amazing.
As I said he is intelligent and he picks up commands very quickly. He is toilet trained, and with the help of little treats he knows “sit” and “fetch". We are working on “Stay” and his recall. Because he is very inquisitive, he is still learning to walk calmly on lead with the ‘gentle leader.’ He responds well to lots of encouragement. He sleeps in his crate without bother, but like all children hates going to bed as he wants to stay up and play more.
He was taught to use the back door when he first arrived and that is the only door that he
will use. However, he taught himself to use the dog door as well. He is such a good, clever boy.
We have had limited opportunity to test him around other animals other than dogs when
we are walking which has been a positive experience so far. He is very good with other
people and loves children.
His inquisitiveness and energy needs company, games and stimulation and he obviously needs lots of exercise. He needs plenty of room to move around and plenty of walks would be good. If the family had a similar size dog, that would be a bonus.
He also just loves head massages.
