About Pearl
Pearl is a true beauty with her remarkable white coat with fawn patches, curious spots and pink belly. For Pearl, life is all about the love and affection she has for her humans. She craves a cuddle and nuzzle. She will remind you often during the day how much she adores you.
Pearl is very young so has a lot of that puppy energy. Her new family will need to take that into account. She will need two good walks and some play time every day. She loves her toys and is learning how to fetch. Pearl is the only dog in her foster home but would enjoy the company of another suitable dog to play with. She would also enjoy some space to enjoy her zoomies.
Pearl loves to meet other dogs on her adventures. She gets very excited making new friends but does get a bit anxious around off-lead dogs.
In the home, Pearl has settled in very well. She knows not to jump on the couch and she is gentle if you need to take something from her. She doesn’t counter surf and has learned some basic commands such as “on-ya-bed”
Pearl will sleep on her own bed through the night. Pearl is house trained and will go to the back door to let you know its time to pee.
Pearl is very attached to her humans and when you are home she insists being in the same room and may complain if she can’t get to you. She even wants you around while she has her dinner.
Pearl still has a little training required to jump in and out of the car. Stairs are not her favourite thing.
Pearl is a sweet cooky, sometimes cheeky bundle of joy. She loves her cuddles and pats and will paw at you if you stop too soon. She will need a home where her humans are home more often than not or there is a suitable doggy companion.
Also, Pearl finds little critters far too interesting so a home without pet birds or small animals like guinea pigs.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
