About Monaco
Monaco, the smallest city in the world, was the obvious name choice for this little girl - the tiniest puppy in the âcities of the worldâ litter. Monaco is a Bull Arab x baby girl She came into foster care as the fragile, trembling, wide-eyed runt of her litter - but in just a couple of weeks, she has transformed into a brave and cuddly little adventurer, ready to leap boldly into her the arms of her forever family. Her foster family adore this sweet little pup - with her tiny, caramel coloured ears perched right on top of her head, and one of her eyes framed by perfect white eyelashes. She has a short, smooth coat which is dotted with tiny brown spots and she just loves finding a warm lap to curl up in on these cold winter nights. She will make a perfect cuddle bunny for anyone looking for a devoted friend to take on adventures before snuggling down for the night with. Monaco is still the smallest of her litter mates and we expect her to only reach small to medium size at full growth.as she currently only weighs 4 kilos
SOCIALISATION
Monaco has been fostered in a home with three large, boisterous resident dogs and also her female litter mate. She is very respectful of the bigger dogs and reads their body language well, but has grown in confidence with the friendliest of the three resident dogs. She has enjoyed jumping up at him, chewing on his ears, and short games of chasey before freaking out when she realises sheâs bitten off more than she can chew and then disappears under the bed or the bench to stop the game. In contrast, Monaco and her litter mate have been robust and rowdy world champion wrestlers whilst theyâve been in care together - rolling and tumbling, growling and snapping, and generally having a great time exploring all corners of their foster home together. Monaco has been in foster care with three cats and behaves well around them. She just loves the cats and shows her joy at seeing them by yapping at them and bouncing around in excitement. Resident cats in her new home who are confident around dogs will be able to put her in her place in no time. Monaco has also been in care with children aged 10 years and older and has loved being in their company. She doesnât mind being picked up and carried around and loves being smothered in kisses and cuddles. She would make a lovely dog for a family with children aged 5 years or older, provided that everyone understands that she is still a young puppy who will exhibit typical young puppy behaviour for several months to come whilst she continues her socialisation - this may include being mouthy with her sharp teeth, scratching, jumping up at legs and chewing on precious belongings. Any children in the home must be kind and respectful and must never be left alone with her, for the safety of all.
EXERCISE AND ENRICHMENT
As a young puppy, Monaco has not been taken outside the boundary of her foster home and has not yet learned to wear a collar or walk on a lead. So far, she has been content exploring the garden with her litter mate and chewing on plants, chasing leaves and playing âhide and pounceâ among the shrubs. Just standing by and watching Monaco play is a true joy, and is an excellent way to waste an hour or two instead of doing household chores! Monaco is everything a puppy should be and just loves her toys - she is so funny to watch as she proudly carries her treasures around in her mouth with a jaunty trot and her tail waving like a flag. If there are no toys to play with, she will happily locate and chew on anything that happens to take her fancy. This includes shoes, socks, electrical cords and furniture - her new owners therefore need to be prepared to âpuppy-proofâ their home to ensure she doesnât get herself into serious trouble. Monaco is literally a âclean slateâ and apart from already knowing the âsitâcommand, she requires training from scratch - but she is smart and eager to learn and just LOVES treats so she will be very easy to train and will make her owners super proud of her in no time. Like all dogs, Monaco will require daily walks for the rest of her life. Please do not apply to adopt her if you cannot commit to meeting her physical and mental needs as she is a smart and energetic dog who will not cope with being left in a backyard with no exercise.
TOILET TRAINING
Monaco is NOT reliably toilet trained yet and her new owners need to be prepared to work hard on this from the outset. As she gets older, she will be able to hold on for longer and longer, however at the moment she is a weeing and pooping machine and needs to be taken outside to the toilet as often as possible. With a dedicated owner to devote time and attention to her toilet training, we are sure she will pick up this skill very quickly.
EATING AND SLEEPING
As a young puppy, Monaco still needs plenty of sleep at night and a few naps during the day. Routine is important for her as a puppy learning her place in the world. She currently sleeps in her crate overnight with her litter mate and they are both happy to go to bed in their crate without any crying or whining. They sleep from about 10pm to 7am and they have a puppy pad in their crate to soak up any accidents. Once awake they are taken to the toilet, have a play and then eat their breakfast. After breakfast, they continue playing for up to 30 minutes before being taken to the toilet again and put back in their crate for a nap of up to two hours (enough time for their carer to clean up whatever mess theyâve made during their awake time!). The rest of the day is spent playing inside and outside, and napping on their dog bed inside before settling down for the night in their crate. It is important for her adopting family to recognise that in her new home, Monaco will be away from her litter mate for the first time. This will likely lead to some separation anxiety and possible crying at night as she settles into her new environment and new routine. Her new owners therefore need to be prepared to manage this typical puppy behaviour, which will of course pass with time, love and patience. Monaco currently eats twice a day. She eats puppy dry food soaked in a little chicken broth with a small amount of poached chicken scattered on top. It is recommended that puppies be fed on specialist puppy food for at least 12-18 months to ensure their growing bodies get all the nutrition they need.
CAR TRAVEL
Monaco is obviously still too small to jump into or out of the car. However, she is happy to be lifted into the car and settles quickly onto the floor where she goes to sleep while she is being driven around. Monaco shows no sign of being affected by travel sickness.
IDEAL HOME
Monaco is an absolutely beautiful puppy who would make a perfect match for a wide variety of families. If her new family has an existing dog, it must be an older, friendly male canine companion. She must be allowed to live both indoors and out, as a valuable member of her family. Monaco is suitable for families with children aged 5 years and above, provided that children are kind and gentle. Monaco would also be suitable in a home with existing cats who are confident around dogs.
Monaco is adored by her foster family and only the most loving forever home will be chosen for her.
