About Shadow
************** PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Shadow is 17 months old and has lived a very sad life so far, he is looking for a new family to take him in and give him the life every dog deserves.
Shadow was purchased by his current family at 10 months old, his family quickly realised they did not have the time nor resources to handle a boisterous German Shepherd puppy and Shadow found himself isolated to the backyard, bored and lonely. Like most dogs that have no outlet or stimulation, shadow tried to make his own fun and would dig and chew, he soon found himself chained up on concrete so that he couldn’t destroy the yard… that has been his life for the last 7 months… he has received no training, no exercise and no love… this is no life for any dog and we are determined to get him out!
Despite Shadow not having any exposure to the outside world, he is very friendly with humans and just wants to play and be loved. Shadow has never been taught manners or had boundaries put in place, so he still displays lots of puppy behaviours and is very excitable. Shadow does jump up for attention and can be very boisterous, for this reason he is not suited to a home with children under the age of 8 years old.
Shadow hasn’t been taught his basic commands, he knows sit and his name, but that is about it. Shadow pulls hard on lead and zigzags all over the place when out on a walk, he needs an experienced and dedicated owner that will put in the time and effort to train him. We highly recommend that Shadow attends professional obedience training so that he can work on his focus, obedience, manners, and overall socialisation.
Shadow needs plenty of mental enrichment in his new home, he needs to be kept busy when his humans are away and would benefit from kongs, treat puzzles, hide and seek games and having things he is allowed to destroy and have fun with such as cardboard boxes filled with treats and toys.
Shadow has not been exposed at all to other dogs, when he sees them, he becomes hyper-aroused and will bark and lunge towards them. Shadow has not been taught doggy etiquette and even when up close to another dog, he will bark out of stress and frustration. Shadow needs to slowly be exposed to other dogs in a safe and controlled environment, he needs to learn what is appropriate and how to behave before he can try to interact with other dogs. For now, Shadow needs to be the only dog in his new home, he as not been tested with cats or other small pets but has a high prey drive and would likely chase them.
This big loveable puppy has had such a tough start and has been let down by humans, despite it all he is a goofy, playful boy who just wants to be loved and be with his humans. Shadow is a quick learner and eager to please his people, he loves being told he is a good boy and loves having a game of fetch, tug and lots of pats.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
