Profile and needs in a home
Joey, or Jo Jo as he is affectionately called, is probably one of the sweetest dogs ever. He has a huge amount of love to give and is a very happy dog. While Jo Jo is very loving, he was very timid when he arrived at his foster home, and he is busy learning how to be a confident dog. His new owner must be able to continue the work that his carer has put in with Jo Jo to continue to improve his confidence using only force-free training methods.
Jo Jo loves cuddles so must go to a home where he is very much part of his owner's life, have access inside/outside at all times, be permitted to cuddle on the couch and be permitted to sleep on the bed where he sleeps at the foot of the bed coming up for cuddles in the morning
Jo Jo is approximately 3 years of age. He is housetrained but still needs to learn the basic commands which his carer is working on. He is bright as a button, so this should not be too much of a challenge for his new owners. Jo Jo is currently on a training program, so his owners will need to commit to continuing this process.
Jo Jo does suffer from separation anxiety and he is progressing well with the training that his carer has implemented. As he still has a bit of way to go with this training and his new home will be a new environment, Jo Jo will need a home where his new owners are home more often than not and have the time to continue to work with Jo Jo on his separation anxiety in a calm and positive manner using force-free training methods. We believe that another small, friendly, playful stable dog would be beneficial to help Jo Jo with his confidence and anxiety while he settles into his new home.
Being a Foxy x JRT Jo Jo loves to walk and run, so he will need owners who are active and who would enjoy taking him out for long walks / runs, trips to the beach, bush walks etc daily. Jo Jo will need at least 1 – 2 hours exercise per day.
He is an incredibly social dog and would best suit a home who really wants a dog to be a family member. Jo Jo is good with smaller dogs, but slightly fearful of larger ones, so would probably not suit a home with a larger dog. He would be ok in a home with older children provided his family had time to continue his training.
We do not know what Jo Jo is like with cats so a home without cats and pockets pets is best.
If you would like to meet Jo Jo please send us an email to sasrescue@gmail.com with as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your other pets, family members, lifestyle, training, exercise, and outings you will provide Jo Jo, how often Jo Jo would be alone, where he will have access in the home and where he would sleep of a night, where Jo Jo would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide. We will not be replying to any enquiries that do not send the additional information via email.
