About Hugo
Hugo is nearly a year old and spent most of the first 10 months of his life in a cage on a farm. So he’s still learning about life on the outside! He’s a real true blue red heeler and loves to chase and "heel" things that run so he cannot go to a house with small animals like cats or chickens and no small children. Hugo can still be a bit nippy when he wants attention, although he is gentle and doesn’t hurt. He is learning that is not appropriate behaviour.
Hugo is a super intelligent, active young dog who has a lot of love to share. He would make someone a great jogging companion and he enjoys learning new things. Someone who has the time to spend with him each day to walk him and do some training will have a fantastic dog in no time at all. If you leave him alone in the backyard all day he will make his own fun! Hugo enjoys chewing things, so a variety of chewy toys is a must!
He’s learning not to be so jumpy when he wants to say hello and he is much better these days at walking on a loose lead. Hugo is also learning to wait at the door before coming inside.
He slept outside on the farm, but has been sleeping inside since coming to his foster family’s house, and loves to spend time inside with his foster family. Hugo is good with other dogs and loves to play. He is currently living with another dog, and he loves to play with him all the time and finds it hard to just relax sometimes when his play mate is around. When he is alone he is much more relaxed and settled.
Toilet Training - Hugo had never been inside until a month ago. He did have a few accidents inside, but has been really good lately. He is still being treated like a puppy in that he is watched closely for signs he needs to go and is taken outside regularly.
Prior experience with Heelers will be well regarded.
Adoption details
Adoption Process:
We allow 7 - 10 days from time of listing to receive enquiries.
Once we receive enquiries, we print these.
We contact potential adoptees via email with an attached application and also ask for pictures of property that the animal will be residing at,
We then proceed to determine what/ where and who is the best placement for our animals, based on the information given via the application form and supplied photos.
When we have processed all applicants and their applications, we then proceed to contact relevant parties via phone to organise a meet and greet to make sure that all parties are happy with placement prior to going to their new home.
Lastly, Thankyou for applying to give an animal a second chance at happiness...This is our main goal as a rescue :)
GOOD LUCK !!!
