On Hold
About Snowy and Benson - Therapy Dogs in the Making!
These gorgeous Maremma brothers are absolutely divine. Gentle, placid and incredibly loving, they would make the most incredible therapy dogs. At the moment they are at the Forever Friends Animal Sanctuary in the Yarra Ranges, and they are giving love and comfort to a wide variety of people - including children and adults with special needs (including non-verbal visitors), and those with mental health challenges. While they haven't had any formal therapy dog training, we're told their mother was a therapy dog, and they clearly want to follow in her footsteps. So while these two are a livestock guardian breed, they show no aptitude for this role - they want to love and be loved by people!
Snowy and Benson are also devoted to each other, and cannot be separated. They need to be in a home where they are a big part of daily, family life. A semi-rural or country property would be ideal, although we will consider a suburban home for these two as long as they will not be left in a backyard all day (where they are likely to get bored and bark excessively).
Snowy and Benson have lived in harmony with small children, other dogs and farm animals, including chickens, goats, sheep and cows.
They are truly Love on Legs - and are here to make a difference to everyone they meet!
