About Shrek
Introducing the dashing Shrek. He is a Staffy x born 4th October 2021.
Shrek is a sweet young man who loves nothing more than spending time with people. He can get a bit boisterous and jumpy at times, so a home with older children would be beneficial for him so he can’t accidentally knock little ones over.
He already knows how to sit, shake, lay down and is eager to please!
Shrek was very reactive when being introduced to other dogs. Once given the chance to settle, he was very gentle with a smaller female. Seeing his reaction to her we introduced him to a larger female and it was love at first sight. We are recommending he be the only dog at home until he's had some more training and socialising. Given his reactions and how eager to please he is, we believe training and consistency could settle him.
Shrek was vocal towards our cats, but cowered away when charged & hissed at. If you have a resident cat at home we would recommend a slow and controlled introduction to ensure the safety of all animals.
When testing with rabbits he laid down and was gently pawing at the barrier. He was very calm and happy, looking like he wanted to play.
Shrek is starting to stress in the kennel environment and barks when he sees the staff walking around when he is in his kennel. He's started losing his voice due to this. While Shrek was in foster care over Christmas Shrek was a very quiet boy & didn't bark or show any interest in the neighbours parties & them splashing in their pool, or the other sides barking dog.
Shrek shows no signs of separation anxiety. Even though he jumps high in his kennel he never showed any interest in trying to jump over or dig under the fence.
While in foster care Shrek was an outside only dog and he seemed very content with that set up, however i'm sure you'll get no complaints from him if you'd like a snuggle buddy on the lounge or bed.
Shrek is such a loving man and wants nothing more than a home he can call his own and not have to worry about losing another family.
Shrek likes to come and have a cuddle when you are sitting, but then he is happy to wander off and chew on a toy. If you want him to cuddle he is happy to oblige, but if you want space, he is happy to just sit near you and leave you alone, perfect when you want to read a book. Shrek is definitely not a needy dog.
If you think you could be that furever family for Shrek, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900 272 to organise a meet and greet.
Shrek’s adoption fee is $200, and this includes his desexing, vaccinations and lifetime registration. Shrek is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Shrek is currently located in East Maitland.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
