About Wally
Hi! I’m Wally and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR WALLY
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/BPeaPz3QUHeAAczB6
NOTE: You are unable to meet Wally until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Wally in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• I am shy meeting new people so I do fear growl (Whilst my bum is wiggling and tail wagging) but it doesn’t take long for me to stop growling and melt into a happy wiggle bum once ive had a few sniffs, I will do this behaviour with all new people I meet on walks aswell so I need a family that is happy to be my advocate for how people are to greet me.
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Im not fussed on other dogs, I will have a quick hello then want to move on but I do become slightly reactive if they are too full on for me.
• A submissive dog is the best housemate for me. But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE people, so I'm just as happy being an only dog getting all of your love and attention for myself.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase once im more confident.
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• I can sit
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I know my basic doggie commands
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I can be a bit bouncy -training should stop this
• I am social with other friendly dogs however I will react if they are too full on or reactive to me, further socialisation is recommended.
• I do walk quite well on the lead once settled, however I can pull if something interests me and can be quite skittish if startled so walking in a harness is recommended. i like to walk leaning against your leg for reassurance.
