About Bernie
MEET BERNIE!
Bernie is approximately 10 months old. She is a gorgeous silver tabby, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated x2 and up to date with her parasite prevention.
Bernie found her way to our rescue when she was found living in on somebody's' property with her mum and litter mates! She was only 10 weeks old when found and unfortunately all kittens were suffering from cat flu. Thankfully, all have been treated and recovered, Bernie has been rehabilitated and ready to find her special home.
Bernie is looking for a patient, kind, understanding and quieter home where she will be allowed to take as much time as she needs to come out of her shell and feel safe again. Bernie spent the first 10 weeks of her life living wild without human interaction and as such, she is shy and easily spooked, that being said, she has come a really long way! Bernie is VERY sweet and affectionate, she is a snuggle bug! She loves to sleep on the bed with us every night, follows me around the house when im going about my daily routine and curls up on our lap when we're on the couch watching tv. Once your earn Bernie's trust, she will reward you with endless unconditional love! She just wants a human of her own to bond with and spend the rest of her life with.
Bernie gets along fantastically with other cats due to her passive, gentle nature, she would make a lovely companion for another young kitty needing a mate. She has no experience with indoor dogs and definitely still too skittish for little kids or loud homes, she is easily spooked by loud noises and quick unpredictable movements (this will get better in time, in the right home!)
Bernie is INDOOR ONLY CAT for life! Please only apply for her if this is suitable for your home.
Medical notes
Bernie had "cat flu" as a kitten, she has since made a full recovery however the flu virus is one that is forever in their system, dormant. Sometimes minor symptoms such as sneezing/watery eyes can occur during times of stress, it's nothing to be afraid of and won't affect Bernie's life or new home, just something to be aware of!
We recommend feeding Bernie a good quality premium diet such as royal canin or advance to keep her in excellent condition as she grows and ages. She can be swapped to an adult diet in her new home as she approaches 12 months old.
Adoption details
Thank you for your interest in a rescue cat! They can make the most wonderful friends and family members.
Our rescue cats have varied histories and stories and as such they each require a different home environment, we ask prospective adopters a series of questions aimed at making the perfect match so please dont be offended when asked questions. We do not adopt to a first in first serve basis and only adopt to the most suitable home possible. If you are outside Ballarat we ask that you make time to have a 30 minute video-chat with us and the kitty you are interested in so we can get to know you a little better and you can see the kitty in its home environment before coming up to Ballarat to adopt, if you are local then we hold a meet and greet at the foster home of the kitty. We only offer video chats and meet and greets to the most suitable homes.
All of our cats at Cat Lovers Ballarat are rehomed as strictly INDOOR ONLY cats and we ask that all prospective adopters only apply if they are capable and comfortable with this.
Please have patience with us as we go through all applications and make our decisions to move onto phase 2 and offer meet and greets, this can take days and sometimes a week to go through, you will be contacted whether you are successful or not.
Thank you again for your interest in one of our rescue cats!
