About Rosie
*In foster care in Helensburgh, NSW*
Rosie is a sweet-natured girl who loves pats from anyone and everyone willing to give them! She also adores long walks, going on 'snifaris' (smell tours and exploring), and sitting patiently next to you on the footpath at a dog-friendly cafe. Her foster parents are constantly being told how beautiful she is!
Rosie may have been an outdoor dog in her previous home, as she didn't really know how to behave upon arriving at her foster carer's house. She's got the hang of it now though! - relishing the opportunity to relax and enjoy the downtime :) She has a history of being an escape artist, so she is currently taking medication for anxiety to help her settle in and feel completely comfortable in her new environment.
A free-spirited dog (yet very quiet for a husky!), Rosie needs plenty of enrichment. She's not a huge fan of plush toys, but she's great at puzzles and enjoys stimulation objects such as licki mats and kongs.
Like all Maggie's pets, Rosie is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will have a big yard so I can gallop around and stretch my legs. I get along well with other dogs and small children but I'm a bit *too* eager to chase the kitties, unfortunately! I think another dog would help me run off some of the energy I have during the day, helping me settle in the evenings so I can sleep through the night, while my doggy friend might also help me feel less anxious.
I'd love it if at least one family member worked from home, though if I have a canine companion that might be less essential. You'll definitely need high, secure fencing that I can't scale to the top of or get out from underneath. (I've been known to escape even when my foster parents are sitting in the living room with my enrichment toys waiting!)
I don’t like being locked in a crate but love to sit in there at my own choice, and like to be free to come and go as I please.
My foster parents have been training me for all basic commands such as sit, shake, stay and come. However, I get easily distracted which is difficult as being food driven is a bit more challenging! I'd love to keep learning in my new home.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Before the vet-prescribed anti-anxiety medication, I was a bit restless as I got used to my new foster home. Now that I'm a bit more calm, I lay happily under the bed all day while my foster parents work from home :)
I do need plenty of exercise, though! I'm currently getting two walks a day (sometimes three) and more than anything I just want to get out and sniff things in the neighbourhood! I enjoy being in environments with lots of smells and would love to have a regular, secure sniff space to explore, such as treats being hidden around the yard. This provides me with a lot of enrichment along with the puzzles and toys that my foster parents give me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Although I don't currently live with children, I'm nice to the kids I meet and always behave well when they come over to pet me on my walks.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I do love dogs as a rule, but of course we're all individuals so I'll need to meet any resident dogs in my new home and see if we're the right match! A slow and sensible introduction is always a good idea too.
Sadly I'm not well-suited to a home with cats.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
