About Ricky
Hi! My name is Ricky or affectionately known as pickle or loafy boy in my foster home.
I’m a 9 year old chihuahua.
Now don’t let my age worry you, I am young spirited and very fit.
I’ve been living with my foster mums and my two foster siblings who are also chihuahuas.
For the first couple of days with my foster family it was rough, I was extremely scared and didn’t know what was happening. When I am scared, I am a different dog. My foster mama says I was 20% psycho but 80% good boy. The psycho does involve sometimes biting if you don’t read my body language correctly. It is best just to leave me be until I come to you.
Once I am settled which didn’t take me long, (couple of days) I am the sweetest good boy. I lovvvvvveeeee to be with my human, I love to be touched (once I am comfortable) head pats and butt scratches please. I also love a belly rub but I will show you if this is what I want when I am ready. My favourite place is laying on my humans chest on the couch.
I also walk perfectly on the lead and go crazy when you use the W word. I love to go out and explore, so require a daily walk at least 5/7 days.
I would be best suited to a home without skin dogs (children 14+ who understand rules and boundaries may be considered). I have gotten on really well with my foster sister, she plays quieter than my foster brother who likes to chase/round up and bark which seems threatening to me. So would love a quieter companion. I love to snuggle so I must sleep in the bed, regardless what you say I will get in anyway. I also can not survive without my oodie that I have claimed from my foster mum and my monkey that I have stolen from my foster brother. These are my favourite things ever.
Unfortunately I am a knickers nabber, during shower time I will nab the knickers and sneak off, so keep them off the ground and there is no problem.
I do get a little bit of separation anxiety, and did spend lots of hours howling while my foster mums were at work but I have now learnt to self settle. Took just over a week. (which they are very proud of).
Please no raised voices or quick sudden movements, I get very scared and always think I’m in trouble. I respond well to gentle reminders not to do “naughty”things (not like my brother he is so noisy).
I am the perfect office dog once I get used to everyone I’m a bit feisty in the beginning but loved going and chilling with my foster mama and was the bestest boy while she worked.
In the beginning you will need to be patient with me but I promise I am so worth it (so my foster mama tells everyone anyway).
I will require you to come visit me a couple of times and a visit to your place before I can officially become furever yours.
So hit apply but better make your applications the best you’ve ever done because my foster mums aren’t letting me go to just any home (they have already spent hours crying about me leaving) because I deserve only the best!
Looking forward to growling at you when I meet you, love Ricky 🤍
Medical notes
9 year old Ricky is desexed and microchipped. He’s up to date with annual vaccinations, as well as flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
He has recently had a dental scale and polish and needed no extractions. His patellas are fine.
He has had two small lumps removed - one from his back and one from his right hind leg - both were friendly lumps (sebaceous cysts) so there’s no cause for concern
