About Mizuno
Mizuno
Stop 🛑 Read 📖 Apply
Look at this Handsome fella with his sleek, easy care black coat, little brown eyebrows, pokey ears and a personality of a true gentleman. For a young pup this boy is the perfect pooch. Mizuno has fantastic manners, he is very polite when meeting you, not a jumpy boy, just happy tail wags. For an 8 month old we are amazed at how well behaved this boy is.
Mizuno is a smaller size kelpie at just 15 kilos and 8 months old with sooooo much potential as he is eager to please and has a great foundation already imbedded
Mizuno is a friendly boy who enjoys the company of other dogs so we would love to rehome him with another female of similar size and energy level to keep him on track
He has a lovely little personality and knows his place in the pack. Currently living with three other dogs.

Inside time
Mizuno is well behaved inside. He doesn’t jump up, he sleeps on his bed and does not get up on the couch or bed. He has just mastered sit for his food and we are working on the wait command. He has one bad habit, well he doesn’t think so, but that is stealing of bras. Yes funny I know but that’s his choice of clothing he chooses from his foster Mums floordrobe so keep your bolder holders out of his way girls. Being a pup he is still in the chewing phase so things do need to be put away.
He has shown to be a bit weary of loud noises and not a fan of the vacuum but being young pup he’s still learning about the big wide world
Outside time.
Mizuno is content outside with his fellow pals. He will occasionally bark at the dog next door. He likes to exercise his little legs with zoomies so definitely no small backyard, being a working dog he needs space and regular exercise.
Socialisation
Mizuno has daily walks to the park. He walks reasonably well on the lead with minimal pulling, when he spots another dog he does send out a bark.
He is cautious at first meeting new dogs but once he says hello he is eager to engage in play. He has been seen to nip in play (kelpie trait). Once playing he is gentle and polite. He prefers a dog that is not to rough. His new owner MUST continue to socialise him daily and ongoing group obedience would be a great benefit for this boy as he is highly intelligent and enjoys the stimulation. He is treat oriented so should be easy to train. He already displays good recall to his name off lead so if you are prepared to put in some early training you will end up with a fantastic little fella.
Food
Mizuno is being fed a high quality dry puppy food which is important for his bone and muscle growth and development. He is a quick eater so a slow feeder would be great. He will try and get food from the other resident dogs bowls so should be fed separately incase of food aggression. He does not display aggression himself and is comfortable being touched while eating. Mizuno loves a cow hoof to chew on and would enjoy the stimulation of food puzzles like a Kong
He has a healthy little appetite looking forward to his morning and evening meals. He has learnt to sit, hasn’t mastered wait.
When giving him a treat he takes it gently from your hand
Car travel
Mizuno knows getting in the car means going to the oval for a walk and play. He’s happily jumps into the car and travels well.
Sleep
Mizuno sleeps in his bed in the lounge room. He knows when it’s bedtime and will happily retreat to his bed for the night. Sleeps well till you wake. He is often found on the bean bag sleeping on his back with legs up in the air.
Toileting.
Mizuno has access to the doggy door and worked out very quickly how to use it. He has had the odd accident inside which is not unusual for a dog in a new home. We consider him toilet trained
He had not marked his territory inside which his foster mum is very thankful for.
The home we are looking for for Mizuno is a home with children over 5
Active family who will walk and socialise him daily
A family prepared to take him to further group training classes
Definitely no cats or pocket pets ( tested and wants to stalk and chase them)
A home with a female dog of similar size or a home where people are around a lot
A medium to large backyard
Plenty of daily exercise and enrichment or this guy will get bored
