About Arlo
Arlo is a 6yo blind American Staffy who was originally surrendered in Canberra due to changes in his family's circumstances as well as his deteriorating sight issues, they believed the changes may just be too much for him and thought that euthanasia was the best option for him.Thankfully, the vet team fell in love with this goofy, friendly boy and took him in. He is honestly one of the sweetest, kindest and cuddliest dogs we’ve had in care, he just has the most amazing nature!
Just a big softie who loves cuddles and scratches, his walks, his treats and a warm comfy bed. Super chilled and super happy, he is the dream dog for any family!
Arlo has his basic training down pat! He can: sit, wait and come all with voice commands! He is also just starting to learn ‘drop’. He sits patiently for his food and is calm (sometimes a little excitable) on lead therefore he does require a confident handler to continue his on-lead training, he would absolutely thrive at doing an activity like noseworks as his sense of smell is incredibly strong!
Arlo is house trained and mat trained.
Arlo is good with people and children, not showing any reactivity to other dogs; he currently lives with a 7yo Great Dane foster sister dog and loves being around her, he’d thrive in a household with a bigger friendly, well trained dog.
He LOVES water and walks in the park and will want to say HI! to EVERY SINGLE DOG that passes nearby. He has a lot of love to give and will nudge you for cuddles on the couch each evening, all 30 kgs of him! Perfect dog for watching movies on the couch or going camping and hiking for a weekend! He is a true inside dog and will require a family that meets this need of his so he is involved within the family unit.
Medical notes
Arlo is completely blind as he has had both eyes removed.
Adoption details
Hear No Evil's Adoption process:
1st Step * You contact us to obtain an adoption application, and discuss the dog of interest.
Once the application is completed and returned it will be assessed for suitability.
2nd Step * A Meet and Greet with the dog and all members of the adopting family and and current dogs is arranged where possible.
This usually coincides with a Yard check to ensure the safety and security of the property on which the dog will be kept. - We understand that this is not always possible in interstate adoptions and this will be discussed on your initial contact.
3rd Step *Payment of the Adoption fee in full. The dog is then handed over with any belongings, and all relevant paperwork and records.
Transport arrangements are the financial responsibility of the Adopting party. Hear No Evil are happy to assist with departure preparations and ensuring the dog makes its transport connection.
Final step * Once the 14 day 'settling in' period has ended, the change of ownership microchip details are submitted, and the adoption is officially finalised.
