About Charlie
Charlie is a 2 year old Miniature Poodle who weights 6 kg. He was surrendered as he was escaping through rural wire fencing. His new home will need to have secure fencing such as 6 foot Colourbond or similar.
He is an affectionate boy who loves to be close to his humans and will best suit a family where the adults have the time to make him a priority in their daily lives. He craves cuddles, company, walkies, then repeat. A retired or semi retired couple who want a constant close companion pet would be ideal.
Charlie has a non shedding coat that is suitable for people with allergies. He will need clipping at the Grooming Salon 6 times per year. He bonds well to both men and women and is good with kids.
Charlie has never been socialised with other dogs (other than the two dogs he has grown up with in his home). As a result he is unpredictable when meeting new dogs for the first time and depending on the situation has shown “fear aggression” (which means he barks, lunges, and has even been known to bite).
His new owners will need to initially only walk him on the lead around the streets (rather than an “Off Leash” park where he might meet lots of new dogs). With time and training, he may improve significantly to the point where he becomes “Dog Social” and can calmly meet new dogs at the park. This will take time and effort.
I’m always very clear about any behavioral issues with my rescue dogs as applicants need to know about these things in order to determine if the dog is suitable. Unfortunately this “Fear Aggression” is quite common when I’m rehoming dogs that have never had the chance to build their confidence meeting other dogs when young. Many do improve with effort.
In the first instance, I am looking for a Foster Carer that does not have any other dogs in the house. I'd like to avoid any potential drama(that may occur if he was placed in a home with an existing dog). If you are available to Foster Care him from 13th or 14th of August 2022 please call Robyne on 0411069622. His carer is welcome to apply to adopt later if they so choose.
To make application, please answer the questions in the section titled "Adoption Process".
Looking forward to receiving your application.

I look forward to receiving your application. Here is a description of the Adoption process after applications are received:
1. After carefully reviewing applications, I will make a shortlist of 2-3 applicants who best match the dogs needs. Only these applicants will be contacted for further information. I often receive numerous applications for any one dog(especially if it’s young and healthy) so contacting everyone is just not viable.
2. Those shortlisted applicants will then be contacted no later than two weeks from the date of application. If you have not been contacted by the two week mark, then assume that you have not been shortlisted.
3. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a Vet and Grooming reference. This means that with the applicants permission I will contact their Vet and Groomer(if they have used one) to see how well they have looked after any current or past dogs.
4. I then conduct viewings with the few applicants that have excellent references to see if they like the dog and visa versa. This is usually around 1-3 potential families.
5. Once I have chosen an applicant, I conduct a “Fence Check” to ensure that the property is secure. If both parties are comfortable to proceed then adoption takes place. There is a two week trial period where adoptive parents can return the dog and receive a full refund if it doesn’t work out.
6. Dogs are adopted with the following : Current Vaccination Certificate, Sterilisation Certificate, Microchip Details.
This process may seem like over kill, but many surrendered dogs have often come from a less than ideal situation, and it’s my responsibility to do everything in my power to ensure that their future is jolly fantastic!!!
