“Loki
This is Loki, a ten month old Maremma aptly named after the mischief son of Thor.
Loki is a giant puppy, full of beans and excited about ALL.THE.THINGS.
Loki is the absolutely goodest of all the bois and deserves the finest of homes to be in forever. He needs space to run around and animals to look after as he took to guarding sheep, goats and poultry like a pro. He is just now coming into his teenage phase and occasionally gets a kick out of chasing a chicken, however he has not killed any stock at all and he responds wonderfully to a stern Uhm Uhm and he hates nothing more than being ignored, so positive reinforcement and patience and kindness are non-negotiable.
Loki will easily sit for his food and follow commands, he comes when called but we haven’t tried this in public.
Loki needs a dog friend to wrestle with as he is obsessed with bitey-facey and being part of a gang.
But most of all, Loki needs humans to love. He loves EVERYONE, children, adults, dogs, goats, you name it. Once introduced to strangers visiting, he will sit on their feet for pats and behaves wonderfully. He wants to be where you are, always, and sticks his big boofhead into every project you’re working on. He is fantastic company and always ready to spend time with you.
Loki loves water and will frequently play in the goose bath, dam, or puddle. He likes to splash and play and he is ok with brushing and general grooming, as long as it’s gentle.
Loki is doing really well on home made raw food with a fairly high bone content. He seems to get the runs when fed too much kibble but a bit of balance works well. He is a huge, growing boy who currently eats large portions twice a day. I expect this to settle when he has filled out a bit more.
He will make a most wonderful guardian.
His bark is LOUD and deep and he is absolutely not suitable for suburbia.
