About Buddy
Hi, I am Buddy the Maremma Sheepdog and I'm 9 months old. Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me. Iāll tell you a little about myself and my life story.
I was rescued by a lady when I was still a little pup. She looked after me for a while, and then she helped my find the current family I am living with. I was very happy living at this home, until all the construction, noise and workmen next door (and around my home) started making me feel uncomfortable. They are doing a lot of building over the coming year and it's just not my thing. I would really love to live in a more peaceful environment where I can come and go as I please and not be bothered by all the noises and chaos.
I am a very loyal friend and my humans mean a lot to me. Once I get to know you too, we will be best friends. If you are someone I donāt know and you come into my home or territory, I will bark at you. Like I do all those tradies that are next door. I donāt mean to be rude but I have to protect my human family and my home. I am excellent like that.
I am playful and I love games. Please be patient with me as I am still very young and I sometimes get carried away with my playfulness. I have lots of dog friends at the park and they donāt seem to mind me chasing after them. I play with dogs of all sizes and sometimes, the little dogs are rougher than me! But I donāt mind because I really enjoy the company of other dogs. My human owners take me to the park everyday and I have been to the beach a couple of times.
I enjoy the company of young humans too, but it is probably best that they are not too young or small, or, too elderly and frail, because I am not sure if I would be able to control my excitement and I donāt want to push or hurt anyone. I still chew on things (that's what pups do!) but I think I am growing out of this phase now. I have lots of chew toys to play with at the moment so I tend to keep myself entertained with those.
I am a very good watch dog. Hey, I am a Maremma! Thatās what we do! However, it would be best if I have a fence around me as I sometimes donāt know the boundaries and I donāt want to run into someone elseās property and get in trouble with the neighbours. As a watch dog, I also bark if I see something that appears to be lurking around. I have never come across predatory animals myself, but where I live, I have seen possums and bats and I bark at them when I see them. I also bark at the pigeons but they just fly away and they donāt pay any attention to me.
I am the only pet at my home so I have not shared with other domestic animals, but I think I would be a great pal so a friends would be fun. I may need a little training at first to get to know them better though.
A home with Maremma experience and a property would be ideal for me. Due to limited exposure with prey animals and my age, I'll need an owner who has experience introducing Maremma's to livestock or other species on the property. I really do want to get along with everyone!
My human owners say I am a lovely, happy and very intelligent dog. We will be sad to part ways but I need to move to a more peaceful environment (rural would be fantastic) so that I can stay lovely and happy for as long as I live.
Medical notes
Buddy is a happy and healthy guy!
Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the petās owner - the person who knows them best!
Itās a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
From here, the owner will be in touch with you to chat a bit more about their pet, and if they feel your home is the best fit, they will arrange a āmeet and greetā for you all to get to know each other.
Should this prove successful, arrangements will be made for the pet to move straight from its current home into yours upon payment of the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid directly to PetRescue (via a secure payment link), and assists us to continue to run and develop programs to assist pet owners, just like Home2Home.
Change of Ownership paperwork will be completed, vetwork history will be provided and your new family member will be snuggled on your couch in no time!
