About Georgie
Hi! I'm Georgie and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Georgie
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/jFrJuMSvEN9VR2Uk6
NOTE: You are unable to meet Georgie until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Georgie in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
•Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
•Further training with basic doggie manners
•To be allowed inside with my family
•A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
•Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
•Lots of toys and mental stimulation
•A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
•A family who promises to keep me well-groomed and brush me regularly so I'm always looking and feeling my best
•Lots of love and attention
•I am very people orientated however am not fond of being picked up
•I enjoy the company of other dogs my own size but am NOT keen on bigger dogs
••A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
•I can be shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
•I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
•I am a clever, young and active doggo - I would be great for dog training, trick training, agility etc.
•I would love a older mature family, i would love kids to play with, but older kids (over 10) are best for me as i can easily be frightened by little ones.
•SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
•To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
•Not to be allowed inside with my family
•Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
•No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
My best features:
•Very playful
•Wiggle butt
•Highly food motivated
•Gentle & placid
•I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
•I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
•I know my basic doggie commands
•Social butterfly
•I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
•I appear housetrained
•I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
•I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
•Well mannered
•Love to snooze on the couch
•I walk well on lead for a young doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
Where I need to improve / Training required
•I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
•I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood
•I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
•I am scared of thunder & fireworks and will bark & whine. I will require a safe space to retreat to during these events as well as comfort and reassurance from my family.
AN ADOPTION CAN'T BE APPROVED IF YOU HAVE CANNOT COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET Georgie IN PERSON.
