About Rufus ๐ Pugalier, 5yo (On Trial 13/8/22)
๐ถ Rufus is a lovable, chunky money ๐ He is a 5 yo Pugalier (Pug x Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and is probably double the size youโd expect for his breed! He is 23kgs of cuddly lap dog with the smushy face of a pug on a medium-sized body. Just adorable.
Rufus is very people-oriented. He is used to living with other dogs, though he likes to have prime position on any lap available. He would be perfectly happy being an only dog.
๐พ Rufus is very much an inside boy and needs to be welcome inside, and to join you on the couch to watch TV and relax. He is well housetrained and can use a doggy door.
He has had some basic training and responds to โsitโ, โcomeโ and โwalkโ. Like any dog, he will bark when he sees people walk past the house.
Rufus walks very nicely on a harness and lead and looks forward to his daily walk. He trots along at a good pace, frequently stopping to enjoy all the fascinating scents. He ignores other dogs on walks as long as they stay several meters away from him. He doesnโt want dogs coming close to him when heโs on lead, which is perfectly fine. This is easy to manage, you simply donโt lead him close to other dogs. He isn't a fan of dog parks.
Rufus is good with children but he isn't suitable to a busy household with children under 12. He's fine with small visitors though, so long as they are gentle and calm around him and don't try to pick him up.
He is good in the car ๐ and jumps in as soon as you open a door. He needs to have a grassy yard, so not good for apartment living. ๐ฑ He isnโt suitable to live with chickens or cats because theyโre too much fun to chase.
Rufus has a soft, short coat: Low maintenance, just regular brushing, bathing, and nail clipping. Donโt tell Rufus, but he would benefit from going on diet and a gradual increase in walking to slim down a bit.
โ Rufie was surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle when his owner died. He is still a young lad with many years to look forward to in his forever home. He is dreaming of a home where there is someone who will love him, play with him, take him for a daily walk, and let him sit on their lap. ๐
Rufus is in foster care in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). โญ๏ธHe is only available for adoption within NSW and ACT. Rufus's adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked, and microchipped.
