About Mr ChuckNorris~8yr Old LabradorX(On Trial 28/8/22)
Time waits for no dog, unless that dog is Chuck Norris. So what are you waiting for! Meet the amazing Mr Chuck Norris. Chuck is an 8-year-old Labrador X. He is looking for a new home due to his family moving overseas without the opportunity to bring him with them.
Chuck is a big boy (50kg) but a big softie! He has grown up with children of all ages, and he is good with babies as well as toddlers and older children. He is loyal and friendly.
Chuck likes to hang out close to his humans, and he will potter around with you when you are outside. He hasn’t shown himself to be very comfortable inside, though we would still like him to be welcomed inside if he chooses.
Chuck is generally friendly and social with other dogs. When he was younger, he liked to play with new dogs, but he doesn’t do that so much anymore. He isn’t keen on fetch either - but he does like to go to the park to just have a run around and explore. He also loves the beach and he will swim with you or with kids that are around.
Chuck only has small needs, but they are important to him. The most important thing is that he likes to go for walks – he has been used to two walks a day. If he has had those walks, he is happy and will rest or play in the yard for the rest of the day. Although he is 8 years old, he still has plenty of energy for walks. Unfortunately, he was not taught to walk very well on a lead at an early age and it is something that needs ongoing attention. Specifically, he is on the lookout for those pesky cats, so he needs someone confident to manage it if he decides to follow his nose suddenly!
Chuck’s other need is just to be where the action is. If you are on the front deck or in the street, he is not happy to be on the back deck by himself. He will cry out for you to come and get him. We think he would go well living with another large dog or by himself, but he would probably not like puppies, he’s a bit old for that these days! Also, no cats, rabbits or pocket pets for Chuck.
Chuck has been living in a single dog household but has been hanging out with the neighbors’ dog (a large Wolfhound) quite regularly. These neighbors are keen for playdates and are happy to have continued play dates and weekend stays if needed. This arrangement might suit a Newcastle-based family. Chuck is fine to be home by himself, and he does not have any destructive behaviors, like chewing, digging or barking. Having said that, he does love his people so he would not be the ideal companion for a household that is always away.
Chuck has good commands. He can sit, wait, roll and his recall is also pretty good. As his recall is quite good, he can go to most parks and be left off the leash. Just make sure there are no cats around! And he isn’t keen on small dogs or puppies that are in his face. Chuck is not a fussy eater, he happily eats dry foods and leftovers.
Chuck has been a much-loved dog, and he has lived with a family with children his whole life. All his vaccinations are up to date, he is healthy, and his teeth are good, too. He was run over by a car when he was two years old, but his leg has healed nicely although there are still some scars to see.
