About Cookie ~ 8mo Kelpie(On Trial 16/8/22)
Cookie is a 8 Month old Kelpie Pup. If Puppy kisses aren't your thing then this guy is not for you. He is very smart and affectionate. He has gained the nickname Licks by our young daughter. So be prepared for a whole lot of lovin'!
Don't let his breed fool you, while Cookie does have signs of working dog energy, he doesn't nip or show instincts of herding. Cookie loves to soak in the sun and is happy to follow his people pottering around the yard. Cookie is good with young children and sleeps soundly in his crate until early hours of the morning and loves a good car ride.
Cookie can be shy so does need some reassurance and help coming out of his shell. Someone who is patient and has time to teach Cookie how to dog. He is very interested in Tug and Fetch but is still building the confidence to join in. Cookie does need some common dog training. He can sit when asked once his excitement for a pat or food has calmed down. He will need some help gaining confidence on the lead. I have taken him out walking but I can only gather that he hasn't had much to do with the outside world.
Cookie loves being inside and included with everyone but is also happy to be outside in the sun patrolling the yard. Cookie has loved the company of our family dog so is dog friendly but because of Cookies shyness would be best suited with a furry friend that is abit older and is going to show him the ropes. I also do not doubt he would love to be the centre of his forever families world as the only dog.
Even though this little guy has had a rough start to life he still loves human's & just wants to please. If you have space on your lap and time to include him in your life then he will be a loyal friend for life! And you will be one lucky dog owner.
Please keep in mind that since Cookie has come into my care there has been someone at home with him most days so will need some time to settle in to other situations. For this reason, we ask that people applying keep in mind the 3,3,3 standard settling in time frame. If you're unaware of this guide, please take the time to sit down with your family and discuss the time it will take for your new foster to completely settle and mesh with your routine and way of life. Cookie only wants to please, and with the right environment, will be the pawfect new addition.
For more information on Cookie, please contact his foster carer on their email amanda.drn@hotmail.com. Cookie is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Cookie's adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Cookie please fill out the adoption application form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
PLEASE NOTE: When applying for our dogs and puppies, please ensure to list the name of the dog you wish to adopt. Please do NOT just list the reference number or the microchip number as this will delay your application reaching the correct foster carer.
