About Ginger STA008822
Ginger is an absolutely delightful gentleman, he loves his humans and loves to smooch. He is not keen on being picked up but he loves to be with you.
Ginger came into our care in a very poor and painful state that we soon discovered was caused by severe allergies that had caused him to scratch himself raw and be in terrible discomfort. After running a number of tests over many weeks, our Vets discovered that Ginger was allergic to, well, pretty much everything. Grass. Sunlight. Almost all food, except for a very bland, scientifically formulated allergenic dry food.
While thankfully Ginger has made an amazing recovery, managing his allergies will be a lifelong commitment. He cannot go outside or be allowed to bathe in a patch of sunlight, like other cats. He will need regular check-ups at the vet to monitor any infections or flare ups, and on going medication.
If you believe you have the perfect home environment for Ginger’s unique requirements please complete an adoption application form. Our staff will contact potential suitable applicants to coordinate a meet and greet with Ginger at our Shelter.
One of our Vet’s will also discuss his diet and ongoing needs to ensure this trooper gets the best possible forever home.
Ginger’s food & medication = $3.15 a day, that’s less than a cup of coffee, and so much more affectionate!
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
