My name is Habibi

I was so lucky to meet a kind elderly lady who fed me along with another kind family who also fed me and who gave me this name … It means ‘my love’ or ‘darling’. It gave me hope that someday someone would love me enough to let me stay indoors all the time.

It’s been tough living on the streets for all those years but at least some of the humans I came across were nice to me … some of people I visited on my daily rounds cared about me so much that they made sure I went to somewhere fantastic … something called a ‘rescue’.

I’m glad I am now ‘rescued’ because I was a bit tired of trying to find warm places to sleep on the cold winter nights.

I’m still learning about being with people all the time … I think it’s great but sometimes feel a bit shy still, so please don’t think I don’t like you if I choose to sit on my own occasionally. I’ve got lots of love to give … I promise I will show you when I’m feeling settled and safe.

I’m currently in something called a ‘foster home’ … apparently it’s like a waiting room … but a good one … not like the one at the vet!! I’m living with a very nice lady with another foster cat while I wait for my forever home.

One of my favourite things about being ‘rescued’ is getting my coat brushed … I’m still a little grubby but now that I don’t have to sleep in the dirt anymore , I’m getting whiter and whiter. It makes me feel proud because people can not longer call me a dirty street cat.

I also like to sing the song of my people sometimes, but just short songs … then I go back to bed. I like pats, kisses on my noggin and food … I looove food!!

In the beginning I was not really understanding those silly things called toys, but lately I have started to play as I feel happy being around my humans. I’d definitely like a nice comfy bed and a cat tree to sit in so I can view my ‘forever home’ from all angles. I am compatible with calm and friendly cats.

I’d love to live somewhere where I can have some company during the day. I don’t think I want to live with those small humans who can be noisy and a bit unpredictable because I think they may make me scared and not want to come out of hiding.

I’m so excited about finding my own people or person … I wonder what they will look like? Do you think they may look like you??
