About Oscar
It is with great sadness that Oscar’s current family is looking for a new home for the beautiful rescue pup. After 2.5 wonderful years as part of their family, the arrival of a baby has resulted in overzealous interest in and energy toward the newborn and an unsuitable environment.
The family has engaged a behaviorist and consulted multiple trainers and two vets, all of whom believe the change in behaviour is due to the stress brought on by a child and have recommended that he be moved to a family without small children. We are therefore seeking a home that provides him the right environment to thrive.
Oscar is very people oriented and loves to be with his family. He is very loyal and will make his new owners a wonderful companion. He will always be waiting for you with a smile and wagging his tail when you get home. He shows a lot of personality and is very clever.
Oscar is a very cute and special. He is a very smart, extremely food motivated pup that loves a good pat and loads of cuddles. He enjoys walks around the streets and parks near where he lives and being doted on for how cute he is by his adoring neighbours and fans. At night, Oscar cuddles up in his bed at the foot of his human’s bed and can sleep well into the morning without needing go for a pee.
He is typically apathetic to other dogs and prefers the company of humans, but does have a few dog friends in the neighbourhood. He has been looked after by families with multiple dogs when his owners were away on vacation without incident. He also regularly goes on group walks with a dog walker and attends doggy day care with other dogs. His groomer affectionately calls him “my little shadow” as Oscar tends to follow his human friends around wherever they go.
He loves to sniff and explore on walks around the neighbourhood, and his two favourite times of day are breakfast and dinner. He is very trainable and will do nearly anything for a treat! Since he is so food motivated, his current owners have to be careful if trying to remove food he has gotten into and been mindful to not set a precedent of feeding him human food from the table which are rules that Oscar follows.
He has a slight limp on his right front leg due to arthritis, which his current family has been treating with a six-monthly series of cortisone shots (inexpensive). Due to this, he does not like to be picked up or handled around his front right leg and may get nippy if he is feeling sore when touched in that spot. He is otherwise very healthy and active, with medium-levels of energy. Oscar is housetrained and has undergone training to master basics like sit, stay, come, etc.
An ideal home for Oscar will be one without little kids. His current owners have been working from home since the start of the pandemic, so he’s used to having company around. That being said, they often leave him for several hours at a time on weekends with no issues or accidents. Given the recent challenges in his current home and the changes that will come when he is rehomed, we imagine there will be an adjustment period for him. His current owners have recently started Oscar on anti-anxiety medication given the stress of the new baby, so his new family may consider keeping him on this medication initially then transitioning him off.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
