Meet Hunter! This guy is an awesome dog and we have no doubt he will be some lucky person's new best friend. He's not a tiny dog, on the small, tending to medium size. He took a little while to settle into the routine in his foster home and adjusting to new (dog!) food (he is a little on the tubby side and still needs to lose a bit more weight) and was a tad anxious, but has improved greatly now. He still dives under the bed if he gets growled at or something upsets him, but this will reduce once he is settled in his new home.
Hunter is an active soul and loves a walk (although is still learning to wear a lead and harness) and also is an avid ball chaser (you will need one ball to throw and another to tempt him to give up the ball he's retrieved!). He will rip apart soft toys pretty quickly so probably give those a miss! If you can take him for regular walks and play with him in the yard he will be a happy chappy.
Hunter has got along fine with all the dogs he's met since being in care and with the big female dog he's in foster care with. He also shares a foster home with cats but will chase if not supervised, so it's not ideal for your treasured felines. Likewise he will chase birds in the yard etc. He can get jealous of his possessions such as toys so they don't come inside the house. We are told he lived in a home with children, but may suit those over the age of 10 due to his toy and ball protecting. He's toilet trained and is happy when he's around his humans. He will share the bed with you if he is allowed and does like to snuggle very close!
Will bark to alert you to people around but is responsive when told to stop.
We think Hunter pretty much had things his own way for a while, so it's about retraining him in being a dog and his place in the 'pack'. Once that is established, he will make such a great little family member!
