Adoption information
I've been adopted!
About Sam
Sam is a beautiful and gentle 10 month old Wolfhound x that is such an amazing boy for his very young age
He is a clever boy who loves to come sit next to you on the couch or bed for you to give him attention and cuddle. He is a very friendly boy who will make his future parents very happy! He is very good with adults and children alike.
When Sam arrived to us he was very very underweight and is now weighing in at 41 kilos so at perfect weight for his age
Hes a big shaggy loveable boy who will make a wonderful family addition as either a single dog or a second dog for the right female BFF
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY
Sam comes with one of our adoption packs including
Hearness. Lead and travel bowl
TRAVELLING IN THE CAR
Sam is calm and does very well in the car whilst travelling. He likes to either sit and relax or look out the window and watch and breathe in the fresh air of the outside world. He is a wonderful car companion and a pleasure to take anywhere in the car
FOOD
Sam eats everything and is not a fussy eater. We have had him on a diet of premium puppy food and Prime 100
We recommend he stays on puppy food until he reaches adult age
OUTSIDE
Sam loves playing outside. He will follow you around wherever you go and if you have the right toy he will play with it and grab it in his mouth, run around the backyard and come up to you to throw it around so he can run and get it for you. He is very excitable and loves playing outside. His big long lanky legs are still a coordination work in progress for the adorable Sam
VISITORS
Sam is a happy and warm boy always after some affection. During his stay with us, he has been in contact with both adults and children and he is very friendly and likes to get close for a massage or a cuddle from both adult and children visitors. No issues with stranger interactions. Sam has a bit of a personal space issue when hes feeling affectionate and still thinks sitting on your knee is the thing to do lol oh and yes the closer he can get the better in Sams eyes
ENRICHMENT
Sam loves playing with his toys outdoors.
Sam is fine to leave at home while his humans are at work and will entertain himself with his mountain of toys and sleep
ENVIRONMENT & INDEPENDANCE
Sam is both an inside and outside dog. He has spent most of the time with us indoors when we are home. He loves to follow us around everywhere - indoor and outdoors. When he is outdoors alone, most of the time, he sits outside the door waiting for us to let him back in. We keep him outdoors when we are out, but not for a prolonged period of time. We found that he does like to always have a friend around, so ideally a female dog friend would be the best way to go.Ifanother dog in residence we would be seeking a Mded to large female with excellent social skills and who is kind and gentle but likes to play
WALKS - LEAD EXPERIENCE
Sam loves walks! We currently take him for walks 1 to 2 times weather dependent When Sam knows it's walk time , he gets very excited! He LOVES his daily leg stretch and neighbourhood investigation When on walks, he does tend to pull a little on the leash, but not that much or often . We have found walking him on a short leash healps heaps
INSIDE
Sam is a good boy indoors. He will follow you around wherever you go and is very curious as to what you are up to! He will spend the majority of the time in the same room as you just chilling
DOG / CAT SOCIALISATION
Sam was tested both at the pound before arrival and with one of our rescue dogs a gentle female and was very polite and well behaved
We feel Sam would suite a home with a female dog or be fine as an only child
We have not tested Sam with cats
SLEEP ROUTINE
Sam sleeps indoors from around 10pm - 7am.
TOILET TRAINING
Sam goes to the toilet outdoors. Be sure to give him the opportunity to go outdoors to do his business!
