About Cheddar
Who doesn’t love some Cheddar?!
This boy is a great little package full of love, fun and personality. Cheddar is very people orientated and loves to give affection. He will do anything to please and is always up for a pat or cuddle. He will happily follow you around with his tail wagging to see what you are up to. Cheddar looks at humans like they are the apple of his eye – he is going to make a very loyal and loving companion for his new owners. It is almost like he smiles right at you, and you can’t help but smile back at him.
As much as Cheddar loves snuggle time and cuddles, he also thrives off doing things with you. He is a young and fit dog and even though he is small at 8-10kg, he will need a good daily walk. Cheddar also loves training sessions and his tail wags non-stop when he is practicing his obedience work with you. He is acing his basic obedience with lovely walking on the lead, automatic sits and a solid sit stay. Cheddar is very responsive and loves to be rewarded with pats. He would continue to thrive with someone who is interested in continuing his training as it really strengthens the bond between dog and human.
Cheddar came from a home with two other small dogs, one being his mother, and from an environment where he hadn’t been socialised with other dogs. Originally, he was displaying some defensive/fear snapping around other dogs but at the trainers he has grown in confidence. Now, he plays daily with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Cheddar’s new owner will need to be able to continue his socialisation in controlled settings (i.e. regular walks and play dates with known dogs rather than dog parks). We believe he would do well living with another dog who is friendly and able to be a positive role model for Cheddar while he settles in.
After coming from that environment where he still lived with his mother and had had very little exposure to the world, Cheddar showed significant separation anxiety. He has since been at board and train where he has made wonderful progress and become a more confident and happy dog. When moving into his new home, Cheddar may experience some anxiety again, so his new owner will need to be committed to providing him with initial support and training to ensure that he transitions well. We will also be looking for a home where someone is home most of the time to ensure that he is given the best chance of success.
Cheddar is ready to bring delight and fun to his new family. He should be allowed inside to be with his owner and will need a warm comfy bed to sleep in at night. Cheddar will need a yard (no units) and may require some assistance to fine tune his toilet training in his new home. His new home should be suburban or rural as inner city life may be too overwhelming for him. Cheddar travels well in the car so will be able to accompany you on journeys and he has also shown to be good around livestock such as poultry where he is boarding. He has been good with the dog savvy kids at his trainer’s place but we are looking to place him in an adult only home as it will better suit his needs.
If you are interested in offering Cheddar a new home where he can soak up all the love and attention, then please apply by completing a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please include details of your home, and dog experience in your application.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
