About Julius
Julius is an almost two year old beautiful Kelpie boy. He will make a great dog for an active person or family with older kids. He is a mix between a velcro dog and a ball of energy. He is very food motivated. Julius loves to be inside resting in the evening and outside running around during the day. He will constantly check where his humans are but when left alone for the day is fine amusing himself with a few toys in the yard.
He has been both inside and outside. He sleeps in his crate. He is house trained and will use a dog door if provided and will tell you if he needs to go out otherwise.
He is great meeting medium to large dogs. He is very vocal and scared if he is on a lead and approached by a dog. First time introductions should be done through a fence or door with Julius contained but not on a lead. Has not been tested with small dogs or cats.
Julius would love a large yard and somewhere to run but currently he has a smaller yard and gets two good walks a day. Kelpies are working dogs and Julius will need a home where he will receive plenty of brain stimulation and/or exercise.
He gets very excited when he sees humans and he will jump, he stops with a firm command and is learning quickly. He will need someone able to continue training him. We prefer he goes to a home with older dog wise children.
He no longer jumps on his current foster parent after one week but he tries to jump up to strangers and gets over excited, so preparing any visitors beforehand will help with this.
Julius will suit a family possibly with a medium to large size dog for company and an active lifestyle, with the ability to continue the socialising and training that he seems to have missed out on so far.
