About Sheeba
Sweet little Sheeba is 10 months old and has had a tough start to life. Sheeba was left in a backyard and given very little interaction, she has not had exposure to the outside world and was extremely thin and terrified when she arrived at RSPCA Victoria.
Sheeba has slowly been learning to trust humans, despite how she has been treated, she is very sweet and once she trusts that she is safe, she is very affectionate and cuddly, gently leaning into you for more pats that she has never experienced before.
Sheeba is slowly coming out of her shell and will need a quiet home with someone committed to building her confidence, she needs to take all new experiences slowly and at her own pace. Sheeba is very unsure of the world around her and will need someone patient and soft to continue her rehabilitation, Sheeba can be a little head shy and flinches at sudden movements, this poor girl is so scared. Sheeba is not suited to a home with children under 12 years old, it would be too much for her right now.
Before coming into care, Sheeba had never been for walks, never met new people or dogs and is not used to the normal sounds of busy street traffic. Sheeba is nervous at first out on walks and will need lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement, she loves to sniff and enjoys treats, with her human by her side, she will learn that the world isn’t so scary.
Sheeba is conflicted when she sees other dogs, she is unsure what to do with them, sometimes she will stare at them from a distance and watch them intently, other times she will be reactive when they get a bit closer and will bark and lunge to show how scared she is. For now, Sheeba needs to keep her distance from other dogs and will need to go back to basics, learning to walk calmly past others and that she is safe. Sheeba is untested with cats or other small pocket pets.
Sheeba has had the toughest of starts and is very timid as a result, once she does bond with you, she is playful and snuggly and easy to handle, despite everything she is very forgiving and is ready to trust and give humans a second chance. The transformation Sheeba will have with someone willing to build her confidence will be lifechanging, she is such a special girl that is ready to break out of her shell and become the happy girl she deserves to be.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
