About Aries
********************** PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Aries is a big, beautiful 3.5-year-old sable German Shepherd who is seeking a very special forever home. Aries has had an extremely tough life before arriving into the care of GSRV, he was homeless, surviving in the streets with his owner, who eventually made the heartbreaking decision to give him up so that Aries could have a better life.
When Aries arrived in our care, he was extremely thin, his coat was coarse and dirty, and he was nervous around strangers. Aries was a broken dog, having said goodbye to the owner he had loved and protected for 3 years, he was scared and confused. Aries was placed into a loving foster home where he has undergone extensive rehabilitation to build his condition and confidence. Aries has proven to be the most loyal and loving dog and quickly developed a strong bond with his foster family, Aries has learned to relax when meeting strangers and that he no longer needs to constantly protect those around him.
Whilst Aries has come so far, he is a work in progress and needs to feel safe and be given reassurance in his new home. Aries still has the occasional nervous reaction to strangers, especially if he is taken by surprise, but with leadership from a confident handler he quickly settles and is accepting of new people. Aries will need an owner that has extensive experience with working line shepherds and building confidence in dogs that are unsure. Aries new owner needs to be committed to continuing to work with him to ensure he feels safe and happy. Aries is not suited to a first time German Shepherd owner and is looking for a home where everyone is over the age of 16 years.
Aries is incredibly affectionate with his humans; he will constantly be by your side cuddling on the couch and will show you just how much love he has to give whether you want it or not! Aries has no concept of personal space and loves to snuggle up. During the day, Aries is a true ‘German Shadow’ following you everywhere looking for any opportunity to play tug with his soft toys or catch with his ball!
Aries loves to please and thrives doing obedience training, he has excellent focus and a strong desire to work as he needs to keep his clever mind busy. Aries recently participated in some agility training and took to it like a duck to water, Aries would love to continue attending training and other dog sports with his new owner. Aries walks well on lead but needs someone confident in handling a strong, large male German Shepherd.
Aries has had very little exposure to other dogs and is conflicted when meeting dogs in the street. Aries has been working on his socialisation and has made great progress, his new owners will need to be mindful that he will need ongoing socialisation and work in this area. With slow, careful introductions, Aries has shown to be social with another dog, however for now, we feel he should be the only pet in his new home. Aries currently lives with a cat, however, will chase if given the chance. Any introduction to a cat would have to be done carefully over a period, permanent separation may be necessary.
Aries has lived the toughest of lives, he has his world turned upside down and his heart broken, despite it all, he is the most affectionate boy with a gentle, goofy nature and has so much love to give to someone willing to help him feel safe and adored.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
