About Brandy
❤️Vic carer URGENTLY needed for Brandy ❤️
Surely there's someone out there that can help Brandy?, tonight will be her seventh night in the pound and she is getting more and more depressed.
Brandy is a 2.5 year old amstaff who desperately needs a home, more desperate than you could imagine.
Here's Brandy's story
Brandy was picked up as a stray by a council ranger on the outskirts of Melbourne back in march this year. Lost and alone, Brandy had cuts and blisters all over the pads of her Paws from endless walking on the hot concrete trying to find her way home.
Exhausted, she didn't put up much of a fight when the ranger slipped the lead over her head and looked somewhat relieved for her ordeal to finely be over.
Upon arrival at the pound, the ranger was relieved to see that Brandy had a microchip as that usually means she will be going home within hours but this wasn't so for Brandy. The phone remained unanswered, as were voicemail messages, text messages, emails and letters.
It was soon apparent that Brandy no longer had a home to go back to.
Not only did she have no home, she also had no name because there wasn't one listed with her microchip details. So when the pound contacted us to save her, we decided to call her Brandy, fitting we thought, due to her colouring.
Anyway on April the 1st Brandy became a member of the found hearts foster family and loved her foster family, especially her foster sister, Skippy, who over time, formed quite a, strong bond
Things were looking up for Brandy, so much so that her foster mum asked to make her a permanent family member and she lovingly adopted Brandy as her own
Fast forward to May, Brandy has settled in well and although close.... the girls have had a few squabbles over the time, nothing major, just the usual bickering that can be expected in multiple dog households but they always seem to work it out without too much fuss.
It now gets reported that Brandy has started to pull on her lead alot when out walking, mouthing off at other dogs, especially smaller ones, and her owner is now started to get concerned that she might be teaching skippy bad habits
Although On their regular trips to the dog park, Brandy was usually always perfectly behaved, respectfully play bowing to other dogs asking their permission to play, and then playing really well with all the dogs there.. but put a leash on her.., things were very different.
Because of this, Brandys new owner decided it was too hard having two dogs as she liked to regularly go for walks and approached us to take her back into care.
Of course we would always take our dogs back but given we don't have a, shelter in victoria, we told her owner we would have to wait until a suitable foster carer was found for her.
During this time though, Brandy and Skippy had another fight, this time alot worse than previous arguments resulting in Skippy needing vet treatment and Brandy banished outside unable to mix with the family any longer.
Trying our hardest to find a carer for Brandy with no luck, her owner decided she couldn't wait any longer and yesterday she surrendered Brandy to the local pound advising us after this occurred.
.
Not sure how to handle the surprise, we made contact with the pound who confirmed Brandy was indeed there although she has now a very depressed young girl, not wanting to move off her bed.
The pound said they can have her for now but as they are full themselves, Brandy is taking up valuable room and due to this, she will need to be picked up asap.
Our problem is we cannot physically pick her up without her having anywhere to go.
Brandy needs a home to go to, one where she can be the centre of attention and love and feel love until her heart is content.
Given the recent past issues, it's probably best that Brandy go to a home where she is the only pet as the last fight started by jealousy with both dogs wanting to sit next to their owner on the couch.
Do we believe Brandy is a bad dog?, most definitely not,
Do we believe Brandy deserves to be sitting right now in the very place we saved her from only 4 months ago? Most definitely not.
Do we want to get her released from there immediately and put the spark back in her eyes and the wag back in her tail?
We most certainly do as no dog deserves to be abandoned twice in a lifetime and especially twice in less than 6 months! But without a home for her to go to and without a carer to love her... Our hands are tied.
We are truly hoping that by telling Brandys story tonight, someone will see that Brandy isn't a bad dog at all, and will offer her this breakthrough that she needs more than anything else right now.
They will then see Brandy as a sweet loving girl who just needs someone to not give up on her and to teach her right from wrong.
Brandy is an intelligent girl who wants nothing more than to please those she loves so training out her bad behaviours wouldn't be a hard thing to do at all.
She has the biggest heart but right now that heart is broken. 💔
She's been taken away from her home... from her family..... from her skippy..... From her whole new world which she loved with a passion and she probably doesn't even know what she has done wrong. After all, it was both dogs acting out not just Brandy but as Brandy was the last to come she is now the first to go and she is miserable.
If you can help Brandy and give her a space on your couch, we will be forever grateful to you.
Brandy seems to bond best with dogs of her own size or larger and those who don't have a dominant nature.
Brandy is Untested with cats but going by her reaction to small dogs whilst on a lead, we believe a cat would have the same reaction.
Brandy is good with people of all sizes but given her typical staffy excitement around new people, older children would suit best as the last thing we want is for Brandy to be moved from home to home because we didn't place her in the right home.
We are also happy to pay for training with a professional trainer to help Brandy overcome her leash aggression which is a fairly common issue amongst dogs and easily fixed.
Brandy is desexed, fully vaccinated and chipped and is currently located in coldstream Victoris
