About Boots
Hi! I'm Boots and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
Boots is a very special boy who has previously lived with family members in wheelchairs. Due to this Boots is a very people focused dog who behaves like a companion dog in that he will spend most of his time by his person's side.
Boots has lived with other dogs but shows jealous behaviour if they get too close to 'his' person by getting between them, so Boots would much rather be the only animal in the home so he can get all of your love to himself. However, he is also happy to play with other dogs and to meet them while out walking without any issues.
If you or someone you know is looking for a companion dog then Boots may be a suitable candidate to qualify.

What I need in my new home:
• To be allowed inside with my family
• Have lived with small children
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A quiet & mature family/household - this is what I am used too
• Being an active breed I have a lot of energy so an active family is a
• I have a high prey drive so I can't go to a home that already has cats, rabbits/guinea pigs or chickens/ducks as I will chase them
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase
My best features:
• Wiggle butt
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit, shake hands & stay
• I have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I know my basic doggie commands
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other placid dogs
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
