About Mushroom
MEET MUSHROOM!
Mushroom is approximately 4 years young, He is short haired tabby & white boy who is VERY LOUD when he meows, why? Because he's completely deaf! Mushroom was surrendered to the rescue through no fault of his own, he was part of a family that unfortunately broke up, the home that took mushroom was just not appropriate for our special deaf boy so he ended up with us.
Mushroom has been to the vet since being with us and had his ears checked out, there is no medical problem or deformity, he was simply born this way! He is VERY loud when he meows (because he can't hear himself), which is usually when he is hungry or wants attention! He LOVES his wet food. Mushy is quite an affectionate, loving kitty and despite being deaf he is pretty confident! It's important you dont startle him, touch him from behind, sneak up on him etc as he will get a fright.
Mushroom isn't a fan of little kids as they do all of those things that scare him! He is fine with kids 8+ (grown up with a young boy) that understand his special needs.
Mushroom LOVES to sleep in bed with his owners! he will climb under the covers and stay there with you all night so we'd love to find him a home as a bed buddy. He sits on your lap, and up on your shoulders! He is quite playful so he'd love to have some toys to play with and a tower to climb! Obviously you can't call mushroom, or talk to him if he's doing something naughty or lost, so it's really important he goes to a home that totally understands him.
He will need to be gradually introduced into the home 1 room at a time so he does not get lost and of course Mushroom must always be INSIDE ONLY for the rest of his life to keep him safe.
We are not sure how Mushroom would go living with another cat, he is in foster care on his own so ideally we'd like to find a home with no other pets however he may get along with another friendly relaxed cat with proper introductions, so a dedicated and patient home with another cat is a must.
Mushroom is a really confident, relaxed, loving young cat and he will make a wonderful best friend and companion to anyone who needs a special furry friend.

Medical notes
Mushroom is COMPLETELY DEAF he has been seen to by our vet since being with us and there is no medical problem or deformity that causes his deafness, he was simply born that way.
Mushroom is otherwise a healthy happy young cat and the vet has given him a clean bill of health. We only advocate for premium quality food such as royal canin, hills science diet, advance etc

Thank you for your interest in a rescue cat! They can make the most wonderful friends and family members.
Our rescue cats have varied histories and stories and as such they each require a different home environment, we ask prospective adopters a series of questions aimed at making the perfect match so please dont be offended when asked questions. We do not adopt to a first in first serve basis and only adopt to the most suitable home possible. If you are outside Ballarat we ask that you make time to have a 30 minute video-chat with us and the kitty you are interested in so we can get to know you a little better and you can see the kitty in its home environment before coming up to Ballarat to adopt, if you are local then we hold a meet and greet at the foster home of the kitty. We only offer video chats and meet and greets to the most suitable homes.
All of our cats at Cat Lovers Ballarat are rehomed as strictly INDOOR ONLY cats and we ask that all prospective adopters only apply if they are capable and comfortable with this.
Please have patience with us as we go through all applications and make our decisions to move onto phase 2 and offer meet and greets, this can take days and sometimes a week to go through, you will be contacted whether you are successful or not.
