About Junie
It’s now time for our very popular Junie to find her forever home.
Junie was found dumped in bushland in far western NSW along with a couple of her siblings who had unfortunately already passed. Consequently, her breed mix is unknown. She is currently just under 9kg and estimated to be 6 months old. It appears she is some form of sighthound mix. People assume she is a whippet mix; however, due to her background story it is very possible she is a greyhound or greyhound mix. Anyone applying to adopt Junie, must be prepared for her to grow to greyhound size and have greyhound traits.
We are looking for a home with another stable and confident dog that will act as a companion and role model for Junie. After having a less than perfect start in life, Junie can lack some confidence in certain situations. Generally, she is a relaxed and happy puppy, but she does display some fear-based reactivity in the form of barking/growling at strangers both out and about and in the home. Junie’s new owner will need to be an experienced dog owner with some prior experience in working through dog behavioural issues. We will also only be looking for a home that currently has a sighthound or sighthound mix that is her size or larger to suit her play style.
Junie is currently living in a busier Sydney suburb and although she is coping with this, she would be much better suited to a quieter suburb or rural type of lifestyle where she wouldn’t be passing huge numbers of people on each walk. She does walk well on the lead and enjoys her daily walks. Like a typical sighthound type, she has bursts of energy where she enjoys playing, particularly with her whippet foster brother, and then lots of time being chilled out. We will be looking for an adult only home for Junie as that fits with her need for a quieter lifestyle. She will also need someone home more often than not and a home where she is living indoors with access to the yard. She will need a nice spot by the fire/heater, some nice blankets, and a wardrobe full of coats to keep her warm.
The beautiful Junie is a very affectionate and loving young girl. She enjoys cuddling up with her foster parents on the couch and also the resident whippets in her foster home. Junie takes herself over to the toy box and loves to select out the soft toys that she can then enjoy ripping up! She has that little cheeky personality in there as well. Junie has been learning her basic commands while in foster care, is crate trained and is confidently using the doggy door to take herself out to the toilet. As with any young dog, she will require ongoing training and socialisation. Before travelling in the car, Junie should not be fed as she does suffer some mild car sickness.
If you are interested in applying for Junie then the first step in the process is to complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website. We expect to receive a large number of applications, so you will need to include plenty of detail about the type of home you can offer Junie and your current dog(s) in order to have your application considered. A short list of applicants will then be chosen for phone interviews. Please be patient after submitting an application, as we are all volunteers and require ample time to find the most suitable match for Junie.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
