About Mimi
Hi! I'm Mimi, a new roly poly pup in the SAFE program. I was found in some building rubble when I was just 5 weeks old. My finder searched all over for my mum or any littermates and door knocked as well, but no-one had any idea where I'd come from. She then called SAFE for help. SAFE spoke to the local rangers and they agreed that I was too young to be in the pound. They gave their permission to foster me, and when no-one reported me lost, they gave their permission to rehome me. When I turn 8 weeks old I'll be vaccinated and microchipped and ready for a home of my own!
Want to know more about how you teach a pup to be a great dog? I'd like to do training every day so that I learn the commands of sit, stay, come, down, no, stop and leave it. And once I've learnt them, I need to keep practicing them every day too. That way I'll learn to obey what you tell me to do. Being consistent and clear with your boundaries will mean I always know the right way to behave. Getting out to exercise at least once and preferably twice a day is vital to stimulate my brain and body. It creates important opportunities for me to meet strangers, other dogs and other animals, plus it tires me out! Tell me ""no"" if I'm chewing something I shouldn't and give me a chew toy instead. I've already learned how to play tug of war, and I'm chewing on a ball--I'd love to have a range of chew toys that you can swap around so I don't get bored with them. I also have a stuffed monkey that I cuddle when I go to sleep in my crate.
SAFE is now taking expressions of interest for Mimi. She will not be available to view until she's vaccinated. Her foster carer says she is sweet, smart and good natured and she answers to her name already. The carer's resident adult dogs have taken Mimi under their paws and are teaching her how to 'dog'. There are no cats in the foster home to expose her to, but she is fine with the neighbours children. We think she will be a medium sized dog when grown but there's no way of knowing yet!
