About Nico
Nico is a gorgeous, glossy 3yo greyhound who loves every human he meets. He needs to be rehomed because sadly he is not compatible with his current owners' older greyhound.
Nico is in excellent health and has beautiful teeth, and is desexed and fully vaccinated including heartworm. He has the most adorable fruit-bat ears, and enjoys apples and tomatoes very much. When excited, he makes 'hrrrr' tongue rolling noises. He'll yip once at the door when he wants to come in, but otherwise is a typical non-vocal greyhound.
Nico has learnt to walk nicely on a lead, but still needs a bit of reminding to slow down at times. He is overjoyed for a half hour walk each morning, and chasing a squeaky toy in the backyard. Apart from that he is content to sleep a lot of the day, but if you're home he will follow you from room to room to be near you.
Nico has some resource guarding behaviour around toys and food, which his current owners are beginning to address with the help of a dog behaviourist. His new family will need to be committed to continuing with this. They will also need to be prepared to guide him with boundaries so that his irrepressible, joyous nature is expressed at appropriate times (i.e. not bowling over everyone who comes through the door).
An ex-racer, Nico has earnt his muzzle exemption but we do not recommend rehoming with cats or small dogs. Well-fenced chickens are fine. He will probably be best as an only dog in a home where people are around at least part-time.
Adoption details
All BTG greyhounds are Desexed, C5 Vaccinated, Wormed & Heart Worm treated prior to adoption.
They have been fostered for a minimum of 8 weeks to allow maximum training and preparation for home life.
A post adoption trial period of 4 weeks is available to help families decide if the greyhound is the right one for them.
We also offer Foster to Adopt options for those who love the idea of teaching a greyhound in their home with the view to adopt it once it has "graduated" to Home Life status. This is a wonderful experience, to watch it blossom in your own home with your guidance and love. An ideal way to make sure this is the perfect dog for you.
