Tater is a friendly, affectionate boy who exudes love and a want to be around his humans at all times. He would thrive in a home with multiple people and other animals, including cats. Due to his size, he may be better suited to a home with older children. He is very gentle, but does need to be reminded not to jump up on new people. Tater would love to go to work with his human(s) if possible. There’s nothing that he likes more than to curl up next to his humans on the couch and would happily join them on the bed if given the chance. Everybody who meets him falls in love immediately.
Tater knows how to sit, stay, shake and is learning to drop. While on the leash, he automatically walks on the left and doesn’t pull ahead. However, he does like to stop and sniff as much as he can, which will need to be trained out of him. He is a fast learner and very eager to please, and may be a good candidate for more advanced or agility training.
His loving nature also comes with a touch of separation anxiety. His foster carers found it hard not to spoil him, often accompanying them to work, to the dog friendly pub and even had them all to himself for a week due to Covid isolation. When he was left at home alone, Tater coped much better inside where he settled down on his bed.
When interacting with other dogs, Tater loves nothing more than to run and chase, and can get quite loud with excitement. He spent a number of days at his foster carer’s dog-friendly workplace playing with the other dogs without issue. He gets along with cats quite well, with interactions ranging from attempted play to downright fear of the dominant cat of the house.
