About Jedi
Jedi is a very handsome, sweet fella who is a fox terrier mix now seeking his forever home.
He is a 10-year-old spritely boy who currently weighs about 9kgs with a cute little swagger.
Jedi came in as a nervous, food aggressive little boy who is now a social, happy, active boy who loves meeting people, going for walks, belly rubs, snuggling on the couch with you, getting attention and going on adventures. He is still a bit nervous when you touch him ā a bit jumpy however, this is improving every day. He needs a family who will give him lots of love and TLC. He will follow you everywhere you go including the bathroom
PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND JUNK FOLDERS FOR YOUR APPLICATION ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR ENQUIRY
OBEDIENCE:
Jedi can sit and come when heās called. He loves to run around the backyard and explore. He doesnāt seem to be interested in toys or balls. He does seek permission to come inside the house and sit outside a bedroom waiting to be asked to come in and come on the couch. He is very polite that way. He is submissive if he is told off and will sometimes get upset. He needs a person to be gentle with him. Heās had a rough life and now deserves a happy life in his senior years. He will need to be on a lead while out of the home as he doesnāt have any road sense. Jedi walks well on a lead and loves to go for walks every day. He likes to walk up everyoneās driveway ā not sure why ??. If he walks at night-time ā he has a light on his lead.
SLEEPING
Jedi has been sleeping inside in his warm fluffy bed with a sheepskin blanket. He will generally go to bed when I do. Prior to that I will take him outside for a toilet break before bedtime. Once heās settled you may hear a little snore, otherwise he is quiet. He will come and see you in the morning for a snuggle and belly rubs.
SOCIALISATION
No other dogs please as Jedi can bit hit and miss
Jedi is a bit unsure of other dogs. He needs praise and reassurance as he can be nervous and will look back to make sure that I am nearby. He is happy to meet other dogs if they are calm. He does not like dogs running towards him or barking at him. He was attacked by another dog and is once bitten twice shy. I have been walking him with a friendās dog who he is doing very well with. He LOVES to meet new people and will go up to them for a pat and to say hello. He is very much the social butterfly with humans. He is very playful
FOOD
Jedi eats very quickly so he has been eating from a slow feeder bowl. He is food oriented which also helps with his obedience training. He has been eating prime and dry food with Jalna Greek yoghurt (lactose free) with chicken, cooked pumpkin, sweet potato, which he seems to like. He has also tried broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. Jedi loves to eat raw bones and wags his tail when he sees them. He now takes food from my hand with the command āgentleā. He is being fed twice a day and he sits for his meals with a little encouragement. He has access to water inside and outside.
GROOMING:
Jedi does shed hair and will require regular brushing which hr does like. His hair is a combination of wiry and soft and he has very soft ears to play with. He is not too keen on his baths but does seem to like the warm water. He certainly does not like his nails to be trimmed and will need a muzzle and someone to hold him while this is being done. He does have arthritis which will need to be monitored and arthritis injections / tablets to keep him active and mobile. His teeth are in really good shape and with a recent scale and polish there were no extractions which is great for his age.
TRAVEL:
Jedi is pretty good in the car and likes to sit in the front seat on a high cushion with his harness and seatbelt on. He likes to see where is going. He likes to have the window down so he can put his head out a little bit to smell the air. I believe with more experience in the car, he will settle down and to then be able to put him in the back seat on a stable cushion or dog booster seat. There is also a dog hammock in the back seat. I have tried a dog booster seat; however, he is not sure about it as yet.
MEDICAL
Jedi has the start of some arthritis in the base of his tail in which we have had him on a course of Zydax which is a weekly injection for 4 weeks a year
This will need to be discussed with your vet for long term treatments
Jedi has a full dental completed so his teeth are in great shape
IDEAL HOME:
No other dogs or cats please
An ideal home for this spunky little man would be with a family that is regularly at home and to include him in their everyone's activities and routine. He requires a patient and kind home. Jedi prefers to be wherever his humans are and also have access to go outside e.g. doggy door. He requires daily walks so he can go out and explore the neighbourhood and see new places. He is a joy to be with and is a very cute little dude who will be a loyal and loving companion. Jedi has truly been a pleasure to foster and is honestly amazing to see him blossom. His forever family will be very lucky to have him. ??
