About Hooch
Please meet a very special girl named Hooch! Yes that is a terrible name so she gets called Dolly around the house!
Dolly has been in care for an extended period of time due to being very timid and reserved, she appears to have led a very sheltered life before entering care. She really shows her happy side when she is around other confident dogs with good energy- I would suggest a home with other cavaliers or medium size dogs that are confident. Having at least one other dog is non-negotiable. She has no issue with the resident cat. Dolly was started on Fluoxetine for anxiety almost six months ago, her potential home would need to be willing to work with a vet to monitor her treatment for anxiety. When Dolly is really scared she will wee herself- she has been better with medication but still has room for improvement.
Dolly was a challenge for our vet team as first attempt at desexing resulted in her having a seizure like reaction to a sedative given. Second time around she was closely monitored and recovered well. She also required an extensive dental and she had several cracked/broken teeth removed for her wellbeing.
Due to still being quite timid Dolly will need a patient loving home willing to give her time to relax and adjust- a back ground in special needs dogs/training would be highly regarded. I would not suggest a home with small children. Dolly truly is a very special girl that needs an extra special home to bring out her full potential.
Dolly is still quite a flight risk and would need a secure yard/area, a gps tracker or similar should be considered.
If you would like to enquire about Dolly please email a description of the home and lifestyle you can offer
Medical notes
Hooch is being treated with once daily Fluoxetine prescribed by a vet.
