About Poppy
Introducing the beautiful Poppy.
This gorgeous little Lady is a 10-week-old Heeler x Jack Russell and now seeking her loving and FURever home.
Poppys current weight is 6 kilos so based on this and her breed we feel she will be a stocky little med size girl
Poppy is an absolute sweetheart, affectionate, independent, sometimes cheeky, and LOVES to be cuddled.
The most beautiful temperament and a pleasure to foster.
Poppy spent her first month in foster care at the AK9 base camp with her Mum Teeny Tiny and litter mates,
This is where she has developed her confidence and love for exploring the outdoors.
Poppy has had 2 sets of Puppy vaccines
FOOD
Poppy is on a diet of Royal Canin Puppy Food and fed 3 times daily however she is more of a grazer
so provided access to her food all day. Poppy is food-orientated which will be a positive for any future training.
SLEEPING
Poppy sleeps inside every night on her warm snuggly bed alongside her little brother Anzac.
Poppy sleeps well and normally goes to bed around 9.30PM and generally starts to wake around 6AM, this can vary.
TOILETING/TRAINING
Poppy is continuing to learn about toilet training each day and the use of pee pads when inside.
Like any young pup she is still having accidents inside, it is important she is encouraged to go outside, especially after a nap.
Due to Poppy's age and not being fully vaccinated she has not been on a lead outside the home.
It is important she is enrolled in puppy school to further her training and taken for daily walks once age-appropriate and fully vaccinated
Poppy is a quick learner and food orientated, she has started to understand the use of the pet door but only for entering her foster home
Poppy has only traveled in the car a few times in a travel crate to and from the vet, she seems to be happy to lay down and take in her surroundings
EXERCISE
Poppy is a curious girl, she loves to explore the outdoors, playing in the garden, wrestling with her brother, and playing and
chewing on her many toys.
Poppy enjoys splashing around in her water bowl so we can only assume she will most likely grow to love the water activities in the summertime.
DOGS/CATS/SOCIALISATION
Poppy is currently in foster care with her little brother Anzac, an 8-year-old Jack Russel, and a cat.
She is fascinated with the cat and enjoys interacting however the resident feline is a little hesitant and untrusting.
Poppy has also had exposure to many of the farm animals at base camp, including other dogs, cats, and from a distance safely supervising when the horses and poultry and livestock are being fed.
Poppy is in foster care with a family with teenagers and is very confident and welcoming of cuddles when guests and unfamiliar faces visit.
Poppy is adored by her foster family and only the most loving forever home will be chosen for her
Poppy would love the following type of home -
A decent size backyard with grass for her to run and play on that is securely fenced and shelter areas
A family that is willing to take her to puppy school and ongoing training and keep her well socialized all through her life with other dogs
Daily walks
Preferred but not essential a home with a medium male dog who is very well socialised with others, kind and gentle with puppies
Must be able to sleep indoors / undercover in a kennel or crate
A family that understands puppies take time to settle in and all things puppy including crying, mischievous behavior, chewing and training is essential - A must.
Puppies are a fair bit of work and we are seeking a family committed to ensuring she develops to her full potential and is loved as a family member always.
