Patron is a sweetheart. He is a gorgeous, chilled little man. He has such a reflective nature for a little pup, and can sometimes be a little timid. When he is comfortable and secure he is a fun loving pup, up to all the usually antics of playing with his toys, playing tug and stealing your socks.
With the right training Patron will grow into a calm loving companion. His not over the top nature would make him suitable for a family, but he’d also do well with a dedicated adult companion.
He is very gentle for a puppy with little or no “mouthing” at this point and he isn’t particularly “jumpy” he is a joy to have in the family.
Given we are not 100% sure of his age (we were told 15 weeks, but we would guess around 10). His new family will need to manage this important socialisation window. He has another 2.5 weeks before his final puppy vaccination.
Any applicants considering Patron should address how they will meet his personality and socialisation requirements.
Patron loves to play with most dogs, but is wary of some and he is quite sensitive when “told off” by one of our resident dogs. He has played well with other dogs. He would do best with a playful, tolerant resident dog.
He is learning house manners, he sits for his dinner and treats. He is progressing with his toilet training, he does know that we are very happy when he goes outside, and mostly does. He is still a baby though and accidents do happen! You will need to be tolerant of his mistakes and gently correct him, as his sensitive nature doesn’t respond well to excessive sternness.
Patron currently sleeps through overnight, in a crate in his foster mum’s bedroom. He settles well in there. We would highly recommend continued use of a crate for Patron as he already sees it as a place of safety and retreats there is he is feeling unsure.
We have been working on leaving him alone (safe in his puppy play pen & crate) for increasing, but short periods of time and he is getting better at this.
He really is the sweetest, cuddliest puppy. He will thrive in a gentle, patient, committed family to help him shine.
