About Donna -Desexed and Vaccinated
Poor, poor donna. This girl has had a hard life. Her fur was covered in urine staining and her eyes had lost their spirit when she first came to us. Donna was dumped at the pound and went on deathrow with her babies and partner. She had been constantly bred without a break, this much is obvious, but what other trauma she has had we'll never know. Currently she is very under-nourished and will have a stay with the vet. Most likely she will need an abortion and be desexed at the same time. All her nutrients have gone into her milk and she's been left with very little, making her very boney. Donna will need some time to recover, however she seems like a lovely girl who is not phased by much. The pound staff obviously thought she was very friendly as they called us to see if we could take her in. She seems quite bunny social and will make a great family member. Update after several months in rescue: luckily for donna she did have an abortion (although too graphic to explain here, it is likely this saved her life). Donna immediately felt better and it's amazing to see the life come back in her. She's such a happy girl who has gained beautiful condition. When sleepy and relaxed she even flops one of her ears :) donna makes the most ideal house bunny, particularly because she has had enough of a caged existence and is loving the freedom at her foster home. Even when she jumped a barricade and went into the restricted section of the house, her foster mum woke to find she had searched out the only litter tray around to relieve herself in! she hasn't chewed any furniture to date, and is not the least difficult to pick up. She is an independant girl that is happy for you to be around, but wont mind being left when you go to work or out for the day. Particularly as she has been reunited with her husbun rudolf recently. Medical notes
Vaccinated -please note that due to the release of calici virus on march the 1st, 2010, all bunnies adopted from us will be vaccinated. Please allow for an increase in the adoption fee to cover this large expense. Desexing normally costs anywhere from $100-$360. Vaccinations are from $40-80 (costs differ between vet clinics). Therefore please don't try to haggle the price of the animal for adoption. If you can't afford the adoption fee, you certainly wont afford the ongoing costs associated with animals
