About Doug
Hi my name is Doug and the rescue tells me I am just the most amazing boy ever
I am a British Bulldog and I am 4 years old
I came into care about 3 months ago in pretty bad shape – spinal concerns, was malnourished, fly blown ears and had no manners at all
The rescue was very concerned about me and they got spine x-rays done - the vets were so shocked at what they saw they jumped back a little and asked how was possible (trust me I can do nearly everything that a dog with a normal spine can do!), please note there will be a big chance I will have arthritis as I get older.
The vets believe I was born this way and as they have said what isn't broke don't fix!
I would probably do better in a home with not a lot of stairs and super comfy couches!
The rescue also fixed up my fly blown ears and my foster mum worked on my coat making it now to be so soft and clean – she has fed me the yummiest food and given me some amazing baths.
As the rescue and my foster mum worked on all of this to help me, they got to see my personality come out …………..
I’m a loving boy who loves to sleep thru the day and the night on a couch or near my humans – I love a good tongue out sleep and snore.
I enjoy meeting new people sometimes I do get a little bit extra excited but do calm down quickly.
My ideal home would be either an only dog or another calm quiet breed dog – while I am okay with my spine and do everything other dogs do - the rescue is concerned about me wrestling with a heavy dog etc. I will happily be an only dog that cuddles up to you and love to take a walk with you - if not be prepared to spend an hour in the backyard playing ball with me.
I love watching TV with you and sleeping in the same room as you - ideally if I can have an open crate next to you or with you in the room that will make me very very happy. I will also go to my crate when I'm tired or overwhelmed.
I love going on car rides they used to make me nervous but not anymore and seeing new places sometimes I'm a little unsure but come around pretty quickly as I just love spending time with my humans.
I would love a home where someone is home more often than not – I’m the bestest secretary if you work from home – I will provide a lovely background music of bulldog snoring (hee hee)
I have not been around cats and my foster mum says it could really go either way
I am great with kids but would like a quiet home as I still do get nervous around really loud noises.
I have had a pretty tough start to life and I’m really looking for my forever home where there is people for cuddles, and beds / couches for snoozing on. I also do a really cute thing where I sleep with my tongue out so if you’re looking for a love bug who will worship their humans – apply now!!

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
