About Regina ~ 11mo Kelpie(On Trial 17/7/22)
Meet Regina! (Reggie) Reggie is an 11 month old Kelpie who has plenty love to give and a lot Kelpie energy to burn. She looks at you with her honey-coloured eyes and makes everyone melt instantly.
Reggie’s favourite activities include going to the park, playing fetch, cuddling up to you on the couch and making sure any stuffed toy or cushion has its insides emptied in record time!
She is a sweet natured girl, and loves meeting new people and other dogs, but can be timid at times. She has great etiquette when meeting other dogs while out on her daily walks and does not show any signs of reactivity.
Reggie is still learning a few basic manners when it comes to her humans, she is a jumper but is showing improvement in this area. Reggie is still learning basic recall skills but has general commands like sit and wait down pat. Walking on a leash is being practiced in a fenced dog park area or on quiet pathways, as she has been known to try follow after cars. She is driven by treat rewards and play, she will be very trainable to anyone willing to put in the time. We always recommend further puppy training to be completed with your new dog. Reggie completed puppy training when she was young, but a refresher course would definitely be helpful!
Because of some of these traits, Reggie wouldn’t be suitable to a family with young children. However she would thrive with a family, couple or single person who is prepared to exercise her each day. She settles at home while her foster Mum works full time but is being exercised each morning and evening. She also goes to bed in her crate each night. Reggie is toilet trained, except for the rare accident inside when overexcited.
Reggie has come from a single dog home, but has been fostered with another 18 month old male Kelpie who she follows like a shadow. Reggie generally hasn’t been known to resource guard and has a very gentle temperament, but does enjoy some rough play. She would be suited to a home with no other animals or with an older K9 sibling who is well trained who she can learn from. Reggie has not been tested around any other animals.
Reggie is ok to be put outside while her foster Mum goes to work, however she will need to be welcome in the home. She loves to be around her humans for cuddles of an evening. A medium to large backyard with 5-6ft secure fencing will be suitable. No rural fencing applications will be considered.
Reggie’s adoption fee is $600, she has been desexed, microchipped and received up to date flea and worm treatment. Adoption within the Newcastle, Hunter and Port Stephens areas would be preferred.
