Drake

Hi everyone my name is Drake and I’m a 2 year old Staffy mix boy. My life didn’t start so great and while I won’t go into details I am safe and loved now with my new friends at Helping Hearts Animal Rescue who are helping me heal and move forward.

My main fear from my past is men but I am working so so hard in overcoming that and with slow gentle introductions I know that not all men want to hurt me and most just want to love me as much as I want to love them.

I do love my people and once you win my trust I show you how soft and gooey I can be and I really am a big snuggle bug.

I really enjoy my walks with my people and being out and about with you. I am a perfect gentleman on the lead and will happily walk along beside you enjoying that time bonding together.

I also love to travel in the car with you, I don’t even complain if you sing along to the tunes however I will look at you adoringly being thankful for having you in my life.

I never learnt to play with toys in my past life, so this is something I need some time and guidance with but I do love my outings and being a social butterfly.

My favourite thing in the world is belly rubs and I will happily lay on my back whenever you are willing to give me one. It makes me feel so safe and loved.

I don’t have much of a prey drive and I have been known to watch ducks on my walks. They are funny little creatures who have some strange habits but they don’t mean me no harm so I don’t worry about them either, after all im a lover not a fighter.

While I am primarily an outdoor dude, I do love the company of other dogs so a home with another carefree paw member to bring me comfort and teach me how to play would be great but isn't essential.

As I have never really been allowed to be an inside dog I tend to mark when I given inside access so if you want me to live inside safe and secure in your arms then please be patient with me as I learn not to mark everywhere, I only want to let the world know that this is my place too and it’s hard for me to understand that humans don’t like this type of behaviour much.

I’m not super active, I prefer to laze my days away in a sunny spot dreaming about how blessed I am with how much my life has changed for the better but my favourite dream will always be the day my loving family comes to take me home forever.

Because of this I want to find myself a loving family who can help me figure it all out, my achievements can be our achievements but when I don’t quite get it right I need a family who can nurture me and make me feel safe and let me try again.
