About Charlie
Jack Russell x Dachshund?
This darling boy has a big, bold, brassy personality and believes himself to be the king of his castle.
Charlie needs to be an only dog in his permanent home, he is very possessive of tennis balls, his toys, and food, and can be rather bolshy in defending them.
Charlie’s 2 great passions in life are food and chasing the ball. He is totally sports mad, and needs an owner who will enjoy throwing the ball to him morning, noon, and night, in all weather, until their arms drop off, after which, they can kick the ball to him.
Food-wise, he eats anything and everything put in front of him including vegetables of any description, and their peels, fruit, and meat both raw and cooked. He appears to have a cast iron stomach, and is an accomplished food thief.
This boy needs an experienced owner who will not be fazed by his slightly stubborn, headstrong nature. He will thrive with training and one on one attention from someone familiar with the quirks of the dachshund personality.
In so many ways, Charlie is a very easy dog. He loves going in the car and has shown no signs of carsickness, also walks well on a lead although has a tendency to pull initially. Once the edge of his energy has been taken off with some ball chasing he will trot along on the lead at a comfortable pace. We have him off lead at the park as he doesn’t take his eye off the ball in our hand and hasn’t been a flight risk. He’s easy to bath and medicate.
This bright, spirited boy would make a wonderful adult or couple’s companion. He is affectionate in his own way, but is too wriggly and excitable to calm down enough for snuggles just yet as he is still very much a puppy. He isn’t suited to households with children or elderly people! He needs fit active owners.
